so based on those pictures they covered just the top portion of that lower pipe where the holes are, or the whole pipe? I guess they left the top one open with the wire over it?

I might attempt to do this

he probably did 2x 1/2 to make it easier to weld.

Welded patches is what i believe was done, not a whole uncut tube as this, I believe, would require cutting it from both sides.
how long are the tips? i know they're 2.5" in diameter but was wondering how long each was.. and dual or single walled?

Single wall the bottom extends to stock the op a little further. I don't know exact dimensions.

i am thinking about getting this done but want bigger tips.. i also have an arkym diffuser.. do you think i can do a 2.5" inlet and a 3.5" or 4" out?

4 is too big. 84 mm is standard aftermarket size so ~ 3.25"

I have someone in Ottawa who is going to do this mod for me and is concerned that it may be too loud to pass the noise check for lapping at Calabogie and/or Tremblant. I believe that you've tracked your car at Tremblant. Any problems?

done both tremblant and bogie with this no issues. just on the upper limit of bogie though
