Unfortunately I haven't driven it enough to really tell. Two days after putting the wheels on, on the way to the dyno, one of the lines to the oil cooler blew.

Doesn't seem to be any serious internal damage, but when we got it running again it started burning oil like crazy, so now we just have to figure out why.

WTF!!! How did the oil get on the side and front bumper of the car????

I hope you turned the engine off asap....

The oil cooler is located in the passenger's side duct in the bumper, and the line burst at the bottom of the cooler, spraying oil everywhere. I got a low oil pressure warning and got off the road as quick as I could. Luckily it doesn't seem like there is anything seriously damaged internally, but after we got it running again, it's been burning oil like crazy, so it's coming back apart Monday or Tuesday to figure out what that's from.

If I'm not mistaken the cooler that is found in the passenger's side wheel plastic is the transmission oil cooler.

The engine oil cooler is in front of the cars rad, and can be seen in the lower bumper opening.

I can't imagine how upset you are! I've been following your rebuild and it's a disappointment when you complete preventative maintenance for something like this to go wrong....

Hope it all works out and your back on the road asap!

You're right. I'll have to take a picture of it when I get back to the shop on Monday. I believe it's the Active oil breather system, because I had to order their oil lines for the replacement. It comes with all their E9x supercharger kits.

I wasn't aware, not familiar with their kit. You could always do a simple compression test to see how the piston rings held up? Might be where the oil consumption is coming from..

In for updates!

On Monday they are going through the breather system to make sure there are no clogs. If that doesn't work, then on the the compression and leakdown test.

YIKES! That sux! Hope you figure out the issue and get things back in shape. Love how the car is turning out (the meaty tires with the slightly tallish sidewalls...so sexy).

Breather system all clear, still smoking. Compression test was fine. Waiting on results from a bore scope examination. Should've been done Thurs. or Fri. but I think they are a little behind, no word yet.

Ain't that how it always goes? It's okay. It'll be back up and running before long.

That's what I figured as well. Just hope there was no cylinder wall damage.

Dummy light or not, when you go from 80-0 oil psi the motor takes a hit.
