Is your frined licensed in MD? If so, the points dont transfer back. I got nailed in 2010, 88 in a 65. Ticket was $371, 45 day suspension in Va, $115 reinstatement fee. Paid it by check, didn't go to court. Was advised that the fine could be a lot higher showing up for court as an out of state offender. Needed a copy of my driving record for work in early 2011, was pleased to see that the points did, in fact, not transfer back to my Md DL.

Sorry to hear. Emporia is the speed trap capital of Virginia. That's how the city makes their money. Never speed going through the first 15 miles of Virginia; that town can be brutal!

It's also a horrible area bc 80 in a 70 is still considered reckless and a misdemeanor. Utterly stupid.

I think there some some national news show about that town giving out tickets on a federal highway. I thought the DOT didn't like how they were abusing their 5 mile stretch of the interstate to collect what amounted to a toll.
