Apparently they're going to drop their retail business, concentrating on racing and "high quality wheels" (hochwertige Räder konzentrieren) so hopefully that means no disruption to automaker supplies.

I hope someone buys their aftermarket wheel division or continue to make aftermarket wheels.

wow, if they stop retail business, this will make existing BBS wheels retain their value more.

from the link i found ,in english, it says that they had the same thing happen in 07
i guess aftermarket wheels are only a small portion of their business
they make alot of oem wheels for cars, which i guess has gone down

BBS is doing some restructuring of their business direction basically.

BBS intends to re-focus on their core business in Schiltach; Motorsports, Specialty OE business (Ferrari, Porsche, BMW etc… and including their US based programs with Ford, Toyota, etc.), High-end aftermarket and Technology development. (Schiltach is the BBS headquarters and is responsible for all engineering, development, high-end and specialty production, etc.) The only segment that they are taking away is the high volume base level OEM business

BBS has filed for restructuring (Similar to the US Chapter 11) in Germany at the same time that they have a LOI with Ronal to buy the BBS plant in Herbolzheim. (Herbolzheim is the production facility for standard OEM high volume production.)

BBS of America operates as a separate company, and has a very positive result for 2010. They have been rebuilding their aftermarket product range for the past 1.5 years and we are entering 2011 with a much stronger program. In the end, BBS will become a leaner, more focused, high-end supplier.

BMW makes a great product. They charge an arm and a leg.
Ferrari...
Porsche...

BBS makes high performance wheels that are light, and strong based on their racing wheels. They look good. Some people pay for that heritage and style, and some prefer to buy knockoffs.

Well now the choice just got easier. Adam Smith was a genius.

So bascially, this allows them to get rid of the damn union employee's in Germany or at least get a better deal from them given the change in economic times?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Anyone have updates on this? BBS wheels have all but disappeared from Canadian retailers.. wondering if this is the reason why.
