Megan Exhaust, yes I used the "search" tab!

I have recently purchased my 2008 E92. I love it. I sold my E46 to purchase the car and havent looked back. I am now wanting the car to sound better, I have watched 100's of Youtube videos, numerous searches on this site and always find myself coming back to Megan. I dont mind spending more money but I really like the sound. Is there any really good or bad reasons to buy such a less expensive exhaust? The detailed pictures posted on this site reflect a fairly good quality product, am I very wrong?

Thanks

I never got the hype. Just seems to change the tone from the stock muffler and doesnt make it any louder.

Don't spread incorrect information.

BS it doesn't make it any louder! And it DOES change the tone BIG time. It goes from quiet kind of euro v8 sounding to NASCAR v8 sounding! Its MUCH louder than stock. Its not Eisenmann or Gintani loud, but its much louder than stock HANDS down. I know. I actually have one. Do you?

I love mine too. Best exhaust sound changer for 500 bucks out there! Lets face it, without an x pipe, all mufflers do pretty much nothing for power. And if it sounds good and it cheap, go for it.

I say buy it OP. You cant go wrong with it at all.

If you are budget minded I would like at test-pipes and keep the OEM rear. Will give a nice volume increase and even further exemplify the higher pitch euro race sound vs. american muscle/nascar. Depending on which sound you like, both options can be had for 500-600 dollars. With the test pipes you get 20whp extra to boot which is hard to pass up.

Test pipes/catless with a megan I would image to be just obnoxiously loud

Well if that's your honest opinion, I don't know what else to say other than I think you are completely wrong.

Ive had stock, Megan, eisenmann race and gintani. So I kind of know where the megan stands between them all. The megan is on the quiet side of exhausts. But its far from stock volume levels from idle to WOT.

Lets agree to disagree and move on. Sorry if I made you .

Cheers

That the volume of the Megan exhaust is louder than stock isnt an opinion, its a fact. That you may not like the tone of the exhaust is an opinion.

But to answer OP nothing wrong with Megan exhaust at all. Seems like most owners are very happy with it.

When I first got my megan exhaust installed I'll admit I was a little dissapointed. It seemed far too quiet, just marginally louder than stock. However, the exhaust really opens up as you get some miles on it. I probably have about 10k on it now and it is reasonably loud. Looking forward to some test pipes or catless x now.

I can't tell you the amount of compliments I get on the way my car sounds. I was one of the first to get the Megan on my car. The Megan has been on my car now for over 2 years with absolutely no issues. My car has Turner Test Pipes and a Megan catback and the sound is wonderful. It does drone a tad in the 2200rpm range, but then most aftermarket exhausts do. Its not bad though, just there a little.

Its not as loud as some of the other exhausts out there but it is also not the quietest. As a previous post stated, its in the middle. If you do the test pipes I think you will find yourself quite pleased.

As far as the exhaust not being louder than the OEM exhaust...well that poster may want to get a hearing test.

Its the best $525 I ever spent for my car.

Dave

I have Megan, had it for a little over a month now and a few hundred miles, and I am happy with it. I was looking for something louder than stock, but not obnoxious and Megan gave me just that.

Megan cost only a little bit more, weights 20lbs less and looks better.

Megan is much louder than stock. Stock has very little exhaust note but the engine sound when revving. The Megan is loud and pretty exotic sounding.

So is it loud and "exotic" or "American NASCAR V8"???

It cant be both.

Also in my first post I said "seems", which means in my opinion it "seems" not louder than stock. I never said it was a fact. I had an Eisenmann Race and now an IPE so maybe my hearing is gone and I have no idea what im talking about.

Guys,

Thanks for all the input. I just ordered my Megan exhaust. I find it hard not to give it a shot due to price.

Regarding the Sound, I just want it to be slightly louder then stock. Sound and loudness are subjective, that being said I dont feel that someone can be either 100% correct or incorrect. Once I have it installed i will be able to give my opinion, listening to youtube videos can only give you so much.
