I am not even driving manual right now haha. So i don't really care if it's manual or auto. I am sure i will get bored of the GTR eventually, but hope it can keep me entertain longer than the m3.

Well, do you need the extra performance
I don't understand the mentality...you already have the fastest car on most streets, but you need that extra umph for the occasional Ferrari and Lambo? Remember the GTR is not a Ferrari or Lambo. Why not just get a kit Ariel Atom? If you track regularly, and this is your track car than knock yourself out. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds on streets with bumps, pedestrian drivers, and police? ^ My attempt at dissuasion. |

If you like ugly, super high performance cars, than get it.....IMHO, it looks like it came straight out of a video game. I must admit, the stats on it are incredible. However, the aesthetics leave much to be desired.

The GTR is in Ferrari and Lambo performance territory and you can use it as a DD and not feel guilty about putting miles on it(unlike the two Italian purebreds). Just buy the GTR and be done with it. You won't regret it. |

I originally considered a GTR but the lack of a manual killed it for me. Since I completely understand what it's like getting "bored" with a car I decided to do the M3 in stages. First bone stock, then ESS VT-1 (current stage) and once I've grown tired of that on to a VT-2. After that it's time for a new car. A GTR with a manual would be tough for me to pass up as a DD.

The GTR is cool, but GTR drivers always have something to 'prove', it gets really annoying. If you want to be 'that' guy, go for it...
Oh and don't be 'that' guy who never tracks his GTR. |

It is funny that I found this thread because up until yesterday, I havent really thought much about the GTR. I have seen them around here and there but they really havent captured me like the one I saw yesterday did. I was riding home on my motorcycle and I seen the tailights up ahead. So I pull up next to it and it just looked and sounded amazing. It was a weird silver color. Not your typical silver but kind of a bluish silver. Anyway, it just looked amazing.
The numbers are undeniable and I actually like the exterior design. The only things that keep me from going over to the dark side is the hideous Nissan interior and dash that looked outdated when it was first launched, the high maintenance, the headache of having to deal with Nissan whenever something is wrong with it, and of course the much higher price tag. Things that make me want a GTR: The Performance is #1 The exclusivity and rarity The supercar-ish exterior and performance comparisons Things that keep me with BMW: The enthusiast community The "free" maintenance for 4 years The status and recognition of driving a BMW M3 The all around applicability of a car like the M3 (kids to school on week days and track on weekends) The loaner BMWs offered during service The amount of aftermarket parts and choices for my car The BMWCCA events The mesh of luxury and performance Wow, after writing that I guess I dont really want a GTR lol

I like the GTR but I think GTR drivers seem to have the same sterotype that evo drivers have, a late teen early 20s pimple faced spiky haired kid (even though I know a "kid" most likely couldn't afford a GTR but still). I feel like if I told most people that I drove a GTR they would first say "what is that?" and then say "oh, grow up".

I completely agree with you! For a < 100k car the GTR is definitely on my list regardless of what other people think. Just about every day I think of what other car I would get other then the M3. Right now my list consist of 2 cars, the GTR and the Lotus Evora S.

If you do get the GTR please get the $1200.00 floor mats.
How awesome would it be to have floor mats worth more than most peoples car? As for advice I can't go there... never driven one, but the SuperSilver upgrade paint is pretty tight. |

Get the GTR, you leave in Seattle, AWD is good for snow
Seriously though, I wouldn't. I guess it depends on your goals and what you're looking in a car... GTR is not my kinda car.

GTR beats the turbo only in MSRP. That's it.
