This is a super cool mod. Nice work. However, these part numbers have a US retail price of $418 each.

For those of us with E90s x $418 = superexpensive mod.

Pulling them out of a wrecked car might work though....

Meh, the manually adjustable bolsters are fine for me. I tighten them up for spirited driving and track/autocross, and run them "wide open" for daily driving.

I drove some M5s with the active seats and found it to be a gimmick. To each his own.

Really neat but super expensive and you have a make a bracket. I was thinking the same of grabbing used parts. What models have them? Also, if you're taking them off a wrecked car wouldn't they have the mounts too? Thanks!

I am sure the mounts are chasis-specific, so there won't be any that fit the E90/E91/E92/E93 exactly. But, they would be easy to make from sheet metal you can buy at Lowes and trim with snips.

The following cars all use the same closer motors that Alex-R-1 used:

This just happened to me. My son pulled the door semi-closed and the auto-close function took over and trust me it closed despite my thumb being in the door jam.

My friend severely broke his finger because of the soft close function on a brand new X6M with 200 miles.

What's up bro. Good seeing you at HRE. I remember you were doing a soft-close install on a M6 a while ago.

Is there an easy way to disable soft-close...like just pull a fuse?

Haha no worries. I thought the same thing as you until someone else closed the door on me. I'm just so glad it happened to me and not my 4-year old son.

Yea did a full soft close retrofit on an M6 Gran Coupe. Royally difficult.

However, the only way to properly bypass soft close is to change the locks out to the non soft close version because the soft close versions close differently. They are meant to absorb some of the slamming, so closing doors without the soft close feature is a little harder than a car without the soft close feature in general. Then of course it has to be coded out.

Soft close door not functioning

I have a 2006 750Li, the front passenger door's soft close no longer works. When closing the door you can hear the motor functioning but it does not pull the door closed. I contacted the dealer to get a replacement bowden cable but they tell me I have to buy the complete unit at a cost of over $400.

I am not sure but I believe that it is the cable that is the problem????

Curious if anyone has any info on this feature in the X5. I recently picked up an X5M and this is one feature that I didn't get... My X is a 2010, so not sure it was even an option then...

I'd like to retrofit, might anyone know if its prewired? I'd love to only have to install the closers and code...

Also, any others with X5s that do NOT like soft close, let's trade lock assemblies...

Reply or PM..

I wonder if there is a way to retrofit the "Auto close" boot from the 5 series too?

I heard that some people install automatic locks from the 5 Series GT.
