Try doing an autocross. I did my first one last weekend and the M3 was amazing. So much fun and as hard as I abused it, it cried out for more.

I definately will take it to the track. The track was the main reason - maybe the only reason - to get the M3. As soon as the 1,200 service is done - maybe i will wait 200-300 more miles and track. I will compare it with my Audi. Will get first a low resistance filter, race pads and break fluid but nothing more. Not even new tires.
Then the rouge SSK and the Volk TE37 with Hoosier R6's if the car worth it. will see.

Someone mentioned smoother clutch release may help with the noise. I will try. I did not pampered the clutch I have to admit. (on track I do not even use it for upshifts - but I haven't done that to the M3)

wait until after your 1200 mile service when you can really open up the M, the comparisons to your A4 should disappear pretty quickly...

That's wishful thinking. It has nothing to do with how you shift.

Wow, again I have to wonder about your perception. I traded my RS4 for the M3, and as you know, they are about equal in output, but the RS4 is heavier. While they are close, I'd have to give the clear edge to the M3.

Chipped or not, and without a major suspension and rubber upgrade, I don't know how your A4 (and I've driven many) gets anywhere near the same solar system as the RS4 or M3.

It is very possible that, by perception the M3 is misleading and faster than it feels.
An example, passing an 18wheeler in the morning and car was doing 120 in 4gear. Audi would have reached maybe 90-95.

Definitely the M3 acceleration is smooth and everlasting. Its not the slap you back in your seat kind of feeling but speed builds up incredibly smoothly, effortlessly and quickly. Unfortunately this means that you are doing over a ton, often without realizing it.

as many have already pointed out the noise is completely normal, in fact i'd go as far as to say it's actually pretty quiet for a twin plate clutch.
