X50 save my E90 from laser in Hong Kong

Another successful story of X50 application in Hong Kong. My wife was never convinced the X50 sitting on top of the console can detect laser gun in time. This morning, there was a lser gun man hiding after exit of ding kow bridge , the portion towards entrance of cheung ching tunnel (towards Kowloon). The X50 fired off the highest emergency alarm in time and saved my wife's license get suspended.

well, no, at least not in Ontario, I dont know about BC. However, it seems the police will always be ahead of the game by acquiring lastest equipment to bust the lastest radar/laser detectors....

based on a local mag article , as long as it is not laser shifter affecting any police signals , no laws in HK to prohibit radar detections devices.

Arn't the roads in China allways packed? Traffic jams everywhere(my chinese friends say), why would you need a radar detector? You cant go thatt fast.

Radar detectors are legal in Alberta, not BC or Ontario. Mine has saved my butt many times.

I also have the X50, an amazing device....but if it showed LASER and a solid tone, it did that just to tell you that the cop already has your speed...before you even slowed down. Now there has been one time where the laser had slower beeps, sounding that there is not a direct hit, but I suspect that the cop might have been carelessly waving the laser from car to car and my detector picked up some of it. There is really no defense against laser unless you get a laser jammer. Escort has one where it plugs into your current X50 and it's about $400.

I love the ferry that takes you from Kowloon to Hong Kong. Its a pleasant ride. And its awesome how daily people use it as a way of living. That bay in Hong Kong is very busy you can hardly see the water calm its always wavy because of the ships passing every second.

Agreed. We are a bit lucky here because of our dense traffic, at any instance , it would not be just my car drawing the gunman's attention. The day, my wife did a emergency braking after she heard the X50 laser alarm; and she also saw the car in front of her was stopped by the road block policemen, but they did not stop her car. The same 'risk' will apply to radar camera. As in HK, most camera is fixed and it is triggered after you have passed the camera and it shoots photo of the back license plate. The X50 may not detect the radar if your car is travelling right 'behind' the camera. I usually use the fast lane if I knew camera are installed on side of the slow lane, this way, my X50 will have a better angle to detect the radar signal. Most of the fixed cameras are fake because the actual number of cameras are much less than the number of camera boxes due to high costs. So , the police tends to move cameras around.
