I will hoard parts and rod bearings and sell them for $$$$$ in about 300 years. Should be a great investment. Who says car parts are not worth anything?

I agree with this.

Engines will get smaller, lighter, more powerful and more efficient. Cars will get lighter with use the of composites. CF and similar materials will find their way into economy cars instead of just supercars.

I expect a reduction of 10 times in the mass of cars and at the same 10 times increase in artificial intelligence and collisions avoidance. Collision between moving objects will become a fun fact of the past talked about in history books. Instead of cruise controlling speed, we will cruise control acceleration as people get airborne spending half of their trip accelerating to insane speeds and the other half deccelerating back before reaching their destination. The automatic autopilot will be so capable that the human passenger will be allowed to toy blindfolded with the commands and no accident will be possible. The fun will no longer be about being transported but in moving to 5 or more different locations around the globe in the same day and everyday.
as someone who has worked in the automotive industry for a number of years i can agree that this stuff is on most people's minds. removed your last part

The list of 3.5 v6 that make well over 300hp is huge from E350 MB, TL, IS350, Q50, v6 Mustang, v6 Camaro, STI, hyundai Genesis. The amount cars with 3.5 motor producing over 300hp is massive now.

I think OP may have something, considering the new M3 is getting a measly 1hp increase and nobody seems to be complaining

1hp? Thought the new m3-m4 was to be around 450hp so 36hp gain.

Even if that's what it is stock tuning will get you to 600 easily in a 3300 lb car. Should perform okay.

Horsepower can be very misleading. In fact, M3 driver should know this the most - it is surpassed in Horsepower by a lot of its competition (C63) but eventually ends up being the better car due to balance and how it applies that power.

I hope they make more responsive, direct, and tactile and precise feeling cars, even if they are slower. In other words, this is what Porsche does, especially with the Cayman and Boxster.

Power gets old quickly; but how a great car feels under your control never does, even if it's not that most powerful.

That's the point! Its no longer about horsepower( at least in the M3/4) its about shaving 400 pounds of weight and adding torque for daily drivers.

Although the tq is just a by product of turbo charging. I don't think there making this car for us track guys anymore?

You could be right, and I don't care. I don't want one for that. If I bought one it would be for me as a fun personal street vehicle. That being said I may be looking elsewhere for that, stuttgart probably.

i also dislike all the HP wars. Higher HP cars today, but they all weigh much more. Nowadays, 500 HP on a 4000+lb car is no better performer than the FR-S.

This is why I sold my E92 M3 for a 328i. Lower weight to power ratio.

Very good first point but you can't be serious about selling the M3 to go to a 328i. No disrespect intended but I had one, great car, but would not go back again unless it was my daily driver/utility car. Especially FROM an M3. The 328i was noticeably lighter and more steering feel but would never get rid of an M3 in favor in a million years.
