I don't see how a CCC wouldn't be able to go to NBT. Perhaps it might need some CIC parts but if CCC can go to CIC and CIC can go to NBT than why not?

If A = B and B = C, A must = C.

That's my theory anyways.

That's what I thought too! Hopefully there is a solution for us - this may just be the tonic I need to keep my car long-term.

Yes, this should be possible, but possibly with some minor limitations.

You will require new head unit and display; old display will not work.
You will be able to retain the iDrive controller, as well as the faceplate.

"Minor limitations" - I can live with that because it's just doesn't make sense to upgrade to *obsolete* techonology.

Sweet... so that means people with CIC systems are going to sell theirs to get NBT systems

Then I can convert from CCC to CIC... unless NBT is really much much better... then I will upgrade to NBT

This is what I'm thinking. I'd be happy with CIC. It has the features I wish I had. Hopefully NBT retrofits will drive the CIC prices down.

I have a feeling not isn't going to be as direct of an upgrade as it was never offered in the e series and will introduce more problems then it's worth. I hope to be proven wrong though. Until then cic is almost the same thing.

The touchpad on top of the iDrive controller alone is worth having. I was going to stick to my vintage CCC until it dies, but this NBT retrofit is awesome.

Yep:

So when you are inputting an address, instead of scrolling through the alphabet the usual way, you can scribble the letters and it'll recognize it. It's leaps and bounds over the "normal" knob.

The only thing is, I don't even use iDrive that much. But should be CCC ever crap out for a reason, no doubt I'm going for NBT

NBT retrofit has already been released. Works well on E-series with CCC, CIC or MASK. Please check out our thread here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=770381

You can also email us info@bimmerretrofit.com with your vehicle's VIN and we will be happy to provide all the details.

Thanks,

Kate.

That's the NBT controller, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with CCC or CIC.

It's the CIC controller that will work with CCC, not the one you pictured.
