Coby steering wheel wrap review
When I bought my M3, the steering wheel was very shiny. I tried every method out there to bring it back to its matt finish but nothing worked for more then a week. I decided to have it wrapped by Mike at Coby and I love the outcome. The wheel feels great and it really is OEM-like craftsmanship, here are some pictures..

hardly a review but good pics and thanks for sharing. I too have a Coby wheel and love it. his work is a very affordable option for those not wanting to spend $800+ on a used BMW perf wheel
my only grip is the gauge of stitching he uses. I wish it were more OEM; meaning it wish it was a thicker gauge. otherwise, the craftsmanship is awesome. |

Looks like the original leather wheel got ruined from the previous driver never cleaning it or possibly having dirty hands all of the time.
Leather gets shiny because it is literally being polished by the oil, dirt, and other grime in our hands. Same thing happens on the seat bottoms -- you will see that they always look shinier than the rest of the seat. It happens when we slide around or make very minute adjustments.

$200 and shipping, around 240-250 with the core exchange (300$ deposit that he refunds after), not a bad price for a wrap..

An auto upholstery shop *might* be able to actually sand down the leather very slightly and then refinish it to return it to the original appearance, but at that point you may as well just get a new wheel/rewrap it. This is what cobblers (shoe repair guys) do when someone scratches the leather of a shoe -- they actually sand it down.

Thanks, but I have the Euro ones already. Now I want to wrap the plastic ones to match the alcantara wheel.

You definitely have to care for it and not get in the car with dirty hands.. Don't plan to eat in the car either... However, they hold up just fine if you're careful. I had a Coby wheel in my E46 and holy shit I loved it. Looked perfectly OEM and felt great. Workmanship was outstanding and Mike is a super nice guy to deal with on top of it all.
