What to Make Sure the Dealer Does/Does Not do Upon Delivery.

I'm doing Euro delivery in May.

Upon delivery at the Welt, and redelivery at my local dealer, are there any things I should make sure the dealer does do, and does not do? So far I have the following:

No holes drilled in the front bumper.
No dealer badging; rivet or stick on. I can just take off a license plate frame.
Make sure to get iPod cable before leaving for ED.

This is the first brand new car I've purchased. Anything else?

-Make sure that they leave your Euro plates on the car or give it to you upon redelivery.
-Make sure that your floor mats are still in the car
-Check for any damages, especially under front bumper and side skirts and wheelss.
-Make sure that they give you the build sheet, owners manual (i received 2sets, one in munich one back in US).

That is all I can think of for now.

You have no say as to what the shipping company does with the Euro plates, but you can tell your dealer to leave them on if they are still on the car when it arrives.

The floor mats are left in the car (usually).

If you want the first aid kit and triangle, take them out of the car before you drop it off.

Ok,

BMW Welt WILL srew holes in your bumper to attach the fron Licenceplate. Attaching it with say, adhesive tape, is illegal in Germany.

Have your CA contact them to not prep the fron license plate mount, and you get yourself one of these towing-hook solutions or just some adhesive tape and not get cought....

Make sure VPC or your dealer updates the nav. When I first picked up my car from the states after ED, the nav thought the car was still in Munich. Also, remember to check for the OEM iPod cable and license plate bracket before leaving your dealer.

Hi,

I have a quick question. What is the benefit of euro delivery? Is it worth the hassle?

Thanks

Are you positive this is true with ED, US bound cars?

It may be different for military purchase and cars that are staying in Europe.

Thanks for mentioning this. Everything I've read recently about ED mentions the plates being foam taped to the front. I'm definitely going to find out more and talk to my dealer about this to be sure. I really don't want holes in the front bumper as I was planning on going with a tow hitch bracket. I posted a question in the bimmerfest ED forum on this to see if anyone who's done it recently can tell me.

For me, the price difference between ED and US delivery was about 3500 which will pay for most of the trip. I had excellent offers on both ED and US delivery too. I just couldn't turn down a nearly free vacation. Not to mention the opportunity to drive a BMW on the Autobahn. You can find out all you need to know on the bimmerfest.com Euro Delivery wiki and forum.

Does anyone know if the performance delivery center will automatically install a front plate mount?

He is wrong. Welt will install the front plate with double sided type. I lived in Europe for many years and always installed font plates with double sided type.....and that is exactly what they do at Welt :-)
