Supra TT? Please. The only thing that car is good for is accelerating in a straight line. It's the muscle car of the Japanese sports cars. Try taking a big single turbo Supra around a road course, with all the lag you won't even be able to hit boost before you need to take a corner. The car is big, sloppy and soft where it needs to be sharp and agile.

Assuming it's a single, one would also have to concede that the suspension sloppiness was addressed, as well. Seems they're hitting boost just fine, too Now, I'm not saying that the Supra is ideal for this type of action, but just like any car, it is more than capable if set up correctly.

Nevermind, you can absolutely drive a big turbo car around a circuit.

Example: F40 had tremendous turbo lag, but it did perfectly fine.

That comment was preponderously stupid.

Yes, back in 1992 when the car was launched it was considered ok in stock form sure... but that was also back when cars had "low profile" 50 series tires stock and it was a big deal if you had "alloy" wheels.

I was a part of Norcal Supras back in the late 90s. Supras were big then and you could still purchase them brand new. They were a joke on track and you'd see people flying them into walls and blasting down the straights only to get passed by Miatas on the corners.

Here's a video of the stock cars going around the track. The Supra came in last place. In terms of lap time it comes in at best mid pack with the WRX and Evo beating it cleanly. Top lap time? NSX.

I'm not saying it can't go around a track. I've done it before. But as I said, it isn't a great car around the track. It's more like you trying to keep the car facing the right direction when the boost hit. Fighting the car to keep it going - it's not fun. Much better options out there if track is your thing. I'll take an Evo any day over the Supra.

Yeah, I'm not going to put much stock in the results of a bunch of cars driven by a bunch of different drivers on a track that puts the Supra at a clear disadvantage.

It's certainly not a dedicated track car, but for it's time, it was more than capable and was praised for it's overall driving dynamics.

Oh GM tried, remember Pontiac Solstice? It was supposed to be a Miata competitor but as it was introduced, they got rid of Pontiac altogether lol

Miata itself was copied after lotus Elan, but Mazda built it even better and more reliable.

I think for Honda the NSX had to be better than the GTR, and they got carried away, and now they are at a price point that is nonsensical for them.

The Kappa cars (Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky) were absolutely abysmal cars. They didn't get a thing on those cars right, aside from arguably the styling.

That said, I've never understood all the fuss over the Miata. I haven't driven the new one, but I've driven the prior cars. To me, they all feel mushy and labored. Not an exciting car to drive in the slightest, imo.

Not entirely true. While they were cobbled together from various vehicles under a limited budget, they happen to be very good auto-X and road racing vehicles.

The LFA had one of the best sounding, most responsive and unique engines on the market, with styling to match.

The NSX has a 3.5L V6. V6's (with or without turbos) can be found in millions of cars all over the world. There's nothing special about a V6 at all.

Comparing the two is literally like comparing a 458 to a Z06 (Brand value notwithstanding). The NSX should have been priced against cars like the GTR or Viper ACR IMO, not in Ferrari/McLaren/Lambo territory.

1. At least they fixed the utter failure of the I8 and gave it some balls.
2. For half the price you could get a z06, gt350r, or hellcat and kick it's ass if you see it at 30 mph, or just plain kick it's ass with a gtr. Fail.
