I cant speak from experience regarding 3M, however, I did call Huper Optik about my reception issues and they informed me that they had released a bulletin to their installers concerning BMW. The bulletin outlined a technique needed to try and alleviate the reception issue and it was a matter of putting a slice in the tint from pillar to pillar in the rear window, parallel with the antenas thus opening up a channel for reception. It made things slightly better after my guy did it, but not good enough.

I switched to Suntek carbon and everything worked perfectly.
