There's no way the final mirrors are going to look like that. That is only camouflage. It's funny to see how everyone is worried about BMW launching something like this. =)

Still if they are the final mirrors, I'm sure someone will offer E46 M3 mirrors on E92 base plates. My car will have them for sure, because this design is disgusting.
To be honest, those couple of links to the mule with different mirrors; they're clearly the same as the design in the first post, but in that pic it has camouflaged spars attached, hence why they aren't one smooth moulding.

Not the real mirrors
Those are not the real mirrors!!!!!!!!!!. They still have camo on them. I can bet also 100 bucks that the final design will look amazing This is just to throw people off. I am pretty sure they are going to look awesome.

I wouldn't be so sure
Just because they have little to no camo does not automatically and definitely mean they are the production shape. The twin spar design we have seen could be for flow or noise testing and nothing like the final production shape. I think that the overwhelming gut reaction from folks that they do not look good is further evidence that they are not production. I 'more or less' trust BMW will come up with an attractive mirror. May not look like E36 M3, E46 M3 nor 335i designs, and may be Bangled a bit, but I have faith.

This may be total BS but in relation to Swamps post is it possible that bmw review feedback and ideas from enthusiasts on forums like ours? I mean like bringing a dummy mirror out like that and testing the reaction.

Definitely possible
SCOTT26 is a known BMW employee and he reads and posts a bit here (Hi Scott!). He also posts over at germancarzone.com as well and I think there is another BMW insider posting over there as well. It is definitely a nice free way to do marketing surveys. The problem is that us "hardcore" fans are not so representative of the wider BMW M3 customer. I have always wondered the same question.

Again: those mirrors are camouflaged. That ugly spar is just an advanced form of camouflage. Come on, people, take a look at them again; they do not make any sense, how can you imagine BMW would release something like that? I'm particularly amazed by such comments as "it will take getting used to". Are you kidding? How could anyone get used to something like that?
OK, BMW design is ahead of its time and different but it's good design. Those mirrors are not. They are camouflaged. Use your common sense. BMW does. Last edited by positive; 02-14-2007 at 08:07 PM.. Reason: typing errors |

Indeed it is amazing how people do react....................how ugly it is............oh it is from BMW........................than it is OK, or I will get used to it...................... Can`t be serious......................with all due respect; let us be precise and sharp in our comments, I like BMW in general, but it is not always OK ( especialy in design IMHO ) |

Having seen your Photoshop work, I think you have amazing skills. In my opinion only a person with a strong aesthetic sense can pull off that kind of work.
Now, look again at those mirrors in the first post and be honest. Can't you tell there is something really wrong with them aesthetically? Isn't it obvious that the darker part doesn't belong there (i.e. it is an add on)? Most probably just a form of camouflage? Can you really see that car on the streets like that? |

Judging by the size of the mirror, I doubt it'd be very aerodynamic anyway.

Guys, they're clearly camo'd. The spars don't even sit flush with the rest of the mirror.
