Oil Change question

I'm due another oil change, and was wondering is it absolutely necessary to have a microfilter changed everytime the oil is changed or can it be done every other time the oil is changed?

well depends on if you like really "clean" air in the car

.....imho not essential

Interestingly though I went to my local stealers this morning and they said that if I dont have microfilters changed, it wouldnt show as a full BMW service on the book. To my mind its just being pedantic and petty.

well that why they are call "stealers"...I mean when I had the run-in service done at my local stealers , i had supplied my own oil so they charge me the micro filter service on my brand new car which has only done 800 miles !!!(microfilter should only needs replacing after 24K miles !!!

)
I cant be arsed to complain though , not worth the hassle as i will not take my car to them for servicing again......their loss
