Castrol TWS motorsport vs. Castrol Edge

I have searched and searched for an answer to no avail.

I just got back from the BMW dealership where i purchased a liter of oil to top myself off. I noticed they sold me Castrol EDGE professional. I asked if this is all they had and he assured me it was for the M cars.

I've seen on all the threads I've searched, Castrol TWS motorsport is what most people use/sell. Did the dealer change what type they are putting in our cars? Or did he just sell me the wrong one?

I'll add that the Castrol Edge professional that BMW sold me is in a gold bottle and in small lettering towards the bottom, it does say TWS 10w-60.

Whether this is different from the gold bottles that say just TWS motorsport, I don't know. I called Castrol and they told me that the motorsport was a European product that was not sold in the U.S. Not sure how accurate that is.

I called another BMW dealership and at first they told me they carried TWS motorsport, but upon further investigation, they came back and said they now have Castrol Edge for use on the M cars.

Maybe I'm just nit picking, and they probably are the same. Just wanted to be sure before I top off my car.

It is the same oil. Castrol just changed the labeling on the bottles to be more consistent to the regular oils they sell in retail stores.

BMW dealers all have the new Edge Professional bottles now. You won't find the big TWS lettering on the bottles.

This...

I'm a BMW Tech. It's the exact same oil. The first time I got it, I went back and asked the exact same question. I was assured it was the same thing, I did some of my own research too and came to the same conclusion.

This thread explains the recent change. If there is a label indicating approval for m cars, then okay

Very helpful, thank you. It's a shame I didn't find that thread earlier, would have saved me a lot of speculation and headaches. FWIW, my car has not blown up yet, so I'm assuming its the same stuff.
