20% off Dinan and BMW Performance Exhaust Systems

All free flow exhausts, middle exhausts and mid pipes are on sale at 20% off at the stealership..... what do you guys think? the 20% off still doesn't justify the price and labor or what? Or maybe just buy the parts at 20% and DIY or go to an indy shop?

If I've read the right mid pipe. Looks like their price is $2699 before the 20%. That puts it almost inline with the Challenge x-pipe. So, now the question is which one is better and gives you the most gains for the price? Dinan claims 23hq/21tq. Challenge doesn't have any claims on their site. Anyone know how they stack up? Also, what's the CEL rating on the Dinan?

Did you have to buy their software? Just noticed that they stated that it's a requirement with the mid pipe.

Required Products Requires Dinan Racing software D903-40MX

I already have the stage 1 software. You can upgrade to stage 2 (CEL delete) for $200 so that's what I'm doing. This pipe deletes all cats and you'll have a CEL, so you'll need the software (or some other tune/akra delete etc.) to keep the CEL off.

IMHO, all these pipes give more or less the same amount of power.

Maybe they meant you need the software to turn off the CEL? Rather than you need to buy software or else we won't send you the x-pipe.

If you guys have ever even thought about buying the Dinan x pipe, right now is the time! I have never seen this x pipe come any where near this price in a very long time.

Plus remember that Dinan products will not void warranty and they are covered under your existing or extended warranty no matter what BMW dealership you get your car serviced at.

Actually that is not true. Dinan provides NO WARRANTY on the x pipe as it is not a road legal product.

I have the dinan x pipe and its fantastic...paired with the akrapovic makes a great combo. Anyone who is thinking about buying should...plus they hold their value seeing as they are very few and far between.

true alot of people forget that. also technically dinan does void the bmw warranty, but dinan will match it if their part does cause warranty work to be involved

Do you have sound clip with the dinan X-pipe paired with the Akra slip-on? I would like to hear the sound of that.

ATM I do not. It's certainly on my list...possibly this weekend??

As any of my friends can tell you (most of which also drive m3s) that Ive been through tons of exhausts (4 eisenmann races, tubi, active autowerke, bastuck, akra evo, megan, remus, dinan) and now the akra/dinan. This exhaust set up is exactly what I was looking for. Clean sounding (cleanest ive heard of any system), exotic sounding, loud when you put your foot down, is quiet when cruising, and one other thing I really enjoy is the fact that while this exhaust is noticable and turns heads, the exhaust isnt so loud as to drown out the great intake sound. It provides a really nice mix of each.

Hey guys,

My Dinan rep here in MA could probably help save you a few more $$$ on the Dinan stuff.

I have their mid pipe, coilover, brembo brakes, 4.10 diff and the BBS wheels. All great stuff. I lve the x pipe and have had it on the car for 3 years now. Great sound. Not raspy and really gets great power and as far as their software goes, if you have another tune you can get that tuner to trick the CEL light. That is really all the stage 2 software does.

Used to have the TB, intake but now SC had to take those off of course.

The reps name is Tom Toppan and he is at BMW Norwell.

Email is ttoppan@gallerygroup.com

Just tell him and Andrew recommended you. I think he could help out a great deal.

PM me if you want more info.

I've heard the full dinan setup in person, both @ stand still and WOT. It sounds sexy, its really expensive but sounds absolutely amazing, easily in the top 3 of all exhausts. Like others have said, no drone, quiets down at cruise and just loud enough when you step on it.
20% off is a pretty good deal, especially if you don't get suckered into the stealership install fees. Dinan's site says its like 3-4 hours for the full install which is bullsh$t.
It's fully bolt on so do it yourself or pay an indy an hour's labour to do it for you.

Does anyone know how much this pipe weights with/without hardware? I believe OEM is 40lbs

~4 lbs TPs -14 lbs Primary cat delete = ~30lbs for those running TPs like I currently am.

Its on the heavier side for an x pipe...Id likely guess it weighs close to what stock does (maybe 35 lbs). You have to take into account that more piping is used since this is 2.75" vs stock's 2.5" so you get more weight in the circumference of the piping, and the 4 resonators are quite substantial as well.
