A couple of quick forum tips; even for veterans

I'm putting this together because I've been playing around with BBcode a bit, as well as embedding youtube videos. I'm sure you all know that the code to embed a youtube vid works like this:

Given the following URL, you would elide everything up to the '=' sign or the part in red below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btjBvrly2aI

like this:

[u2b]btjBvrly2aI[/u2b]

As I said, I'm sure you all know this. Now, if you want the video to start at a particular point, you just add the following code to the end of the video id string, like so:

[INVALIDYOUTUBE]btjBvrly2aI&start=66[/INVALIDYOUTUBE]

The '&start=66' part tells the youtube player to skip to the 1:06 (1m6s) second mark. You can use this if you don't want to have to tell people to skip to the n minute/second mark in order to avoid being bored to death by all the stuff leading up to that.

The second tip is for showing people how to use BBcode tags. Just wrap the code in noparse tags like so:

[NOPARSE][/NOPARSE]

and you'll be able to give someone asking you how to embed youtube videos something that they can cut and paste directly from your post. E.g:

[INVALIDYOUTUBE]btjBvrly2aI&start=66[/INVALIDYOUTUBE]

if they cut and paste the code displayed, they'll get:

[u2b]btjBvrly2aI&start=66[/u2b]
