Question Faulty Oil Level Indicator?

Took my car to Vista BMW in Fort Lauderdale about 3 weeks ago for an oil change. Checked the oil level for the last couple of weeks and right after oil change and the level indicator showed it in the "ok" area between the min and max levels. Checked it yesterday when I was driving and its telling me that its over the max and there is too much oil in the engine. Checked it again today and its telling me the same thing. I never got an error message and the check control says everything is ok? Anybody else experience this?

The only time I have received the "too much oil" error was when I added oil on my own. It went away after some hard driving though. Not a problem since then. I wouldn't worry about it but it seems odd that yours came on 3 weeks after oil was added to it.

Read the other recent threads about this. Once you understand how the sensor works and follow a routine how to check it you'll see it's pretty consistent.
