I do.
It's nicer than stock but be very honest with you, I'm not sure it's worth 500 + install.
Try ZHP (shorter + heavy knob) mod first then see if you still want to do SSK mod or not.

I have it too along with the ZHP knob. I agree with isugoo and many others that said it's nicer than stock but not sure it's worth 500 + install. I got a good deal on it and I did the install myself so it's not as big a $$$ hit. I actually ended up taking it back out because I cannot stand the constant rattling and winding sound of it on long drives on the freeway. There is also a slop in it that's not there in the oem shifter (this could be just individual part tolerance issue).

What I ended up doing is have the selector rod zinc plated to build up another .002" to get rid of the play between the selector rod and the shifter and hopefully also prolog the wear on the selector rod pins. I got some stainless steel washers to replace the spring washer that came with the RE. I also ended up getting the oem oval hard rubber bushings and sanding them down to fit in order to replace the 4 round delrin bushings that came with the RE. Now, I absolutely love the modified RE shifter. Solid and tight, quiet, short throw and better ergonomic (for me). But as you can 'read', it's quite a bit of work though.

As isugoo pointed out, definitely just try the ZHP first before going SSK.

I was told by Turner that the ZHP knob is not illuminated, and that it can't go on an E90 M3 because the boot is a one-piece unit, so you just can't replace the knob. Please set me straight on this.

There are many versions of the ZHP knob, some are six speed and some are even 5 speed. You can buy one that is custom made to light up or you can buy the knob + boot from the f10 m5 and make that work but its a bit more expensive. Either way the knob will fit you just have to cut your oem leather shift boot or buy a new boot

That looks right. You can follow this thread on how to make it fit the M3:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...=m3+shift+knob

It looks like Tisher BMW has it for cheaper than ebay though at $120 shipped: http://www.getbmwparts.com/partlocat...002&startrow=1

Weird. I have the knob in my e90. I bought the car used and it came that way.
