supercharged m3 slow

I am looking to put a blower on my car. I just went for a ride in a 625ess and To me it felt slow. Looking for input. Almost changed my mind as far as buying a blower. I know that all the dyno numbers sound great but I felt like there was no wow factor. even if the guy was a bad driver I should have felt something.

Where in NJ are you? I live in NYC and so far I am very impressed with Evolve s/c. Let me know if you want to go for a ride.

After being in a 900 hp HPF M3 a lot of cars feel slow. lol A buddy of mine has a heavily modified GTR and has videos of putting bus lengths on a SC E92 M3.

Honestly the E92 M3 is not built for speed. Plenty of other cars for that. To me the M3 is a luxury sports car/sedan with an occasional track day, nothing more. Its not raw as the Z4MC but its a great compromise.

Anyway I would pass if you want straight line speed. Go ZR1 if you want that.

Ask around locally and see if a few local owners will give you a ride. There are others out there that are fast.

All of the M3 kits are very smooth in power delivery and don't provide that "holy s!!!" Factor that some other cars do like a ZR1 or an all wheel drive modded GTR which have that violent on power off power feeling. I've beaten modded gtr's, ZO6's, Shelby's, crotch rockets, you name it so if you think M3's are slow, let alone blown ones, the only remedy for you is to own a funny car lol

Yah a ESS625 kit should go low11's in the 1/4 mile and will go around 200mph I don't think that's slow.

Being fast and feeling fast aren't the same thing - and honestly the m3 doesn't always feel fast - including modified. The fastest open wheel cars I drove didn't feel as fast as my lap times in a vette, but the times blew it away.

Some times you need a fast feeling car for the street - where actually being fast isn't the goal - just having a little fun. My light weight Exige s260 fills my speed needs - and the m3 is my tame daily driver.

Drive the car yourself and hammer it from 5500-6000rpm, you'll see that it's fast! I felt the same way as you last week when I let my friend drive my car but each time I drive it I'm just in love with the power, it is fast!!

feeling fast usually equates to torque. unfortunately this car isn't a monster in that category even when s/c'ed (though 350lb at wheels isn't too shabby)

Hi,

We have a special going on for our kits, if you haven't lost hope in a supercharger setup yet. Our customers love the power delivery. I'm surprised the ESS kit felt slow, considering they make good power with their setups. Each company has something different to offer with their products and I'm sure you will be satisfied with your decision. Keep in mind its always a different feeling when you drive your own car with the new found power. I wish you luck with your decision. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need help with anything...

According to 6speedonline 60-130 times, SC M3's are right up there with modded 911's, GT40s, Supras, and Z06s...

feels slow

Hard call cause I understand that there is not much torque in the M3 and the power is very linear. But spending upwards of 10 grand you should have a wow factor.

Just finish building my buddys R32 2004. It put down 397hp and 400torque to the wheels on a mustang dyno. Now we just swapped injectors and the turbo and he will be putting down around 500 to the wheels. Previous to this it had more of a wow factor or feeling fast then a 625 kit

Mind you with the kit, car, and all his other mods is only 35k deep.

I know this is a bad comparison cause he has a turbo. But it leaves you more in pressed after you feel the rush it gives you. Even my wife's last car was a 335xi with full bolt on and meth. Even with it being tip that gave you a run for your money. I feel confused. I was ready to start ordering a ton of stuff for my m and now feel very skeptical if its worth it. since I already have put 10k into it and it only has 2k miles on it.

These 600+ are really slow, especially since you are in the laughable 3 second club going 0-60. What's up with that shit?

The traction light comes on in every gear but 6th - what's up with that?

You were either high or not high enough, or most likely... your friend told you it was a supercharged M3, while taking you for a ride in his 328i.

hahaha I've got a 650 and it doesn't really feel all that quick but you can tell it just keeps pulling

if you put it up next to a other car thats when u know how fast they are

I hear what your saying. I rode in a friends 540 and I was expecting it to be faster down low. We even ran it on the highway against mine (TP's, exhaust, MS Intake at that time) and he didn't start pulling on me until after 100 (started at 60ish). After that I was left behind easily.

The SC's (centrifugal) out now keep the linear power delivery of the stock engine. Maybe you should wait around for the twin screw (positive displacement) from Harrop coming out soon or even Gintani TT. Both of those set up, if tuned correctly, will definitely give you the torque feel your looking for in a reliable package.

In order for that setup to be reliable you will need to build the engine up. So therefore it becomes a totally different ball park. I do agree with you the entry level kits do not provide much excitement since everyone that's getting one has their expectations blown out of proportion. The way people should be looking st superchargers is that is adds the much needed torque in low and mid range which is very important for street performance.

Agreed. I have to say I rarely feel the car is under powered if kept in the right gear. That just means the car requires the driver to be more active (more shifts) to keep it in the meat of the power band. I can not image driving like this WITH a SC'ed car would ever leave most drivers wanting more. The car rev's to 8400+ for a reason.... take it there and try your best to stay above 5-6k. Its fast!

I've got 3.45s the car is fast but not scary or a monster

I already have installed the dinan rear diff to give my self a little go on the low end. Plus I am fully cattless with stock rear section currently. So do only thing I have left is the rear section and a blower to get any power. I probably would be happy if there was a way to just get another 50torque to the wheels on top of the blower. I think I have to go for another drive in a m3 with a blower.

What kind of wow factor are you looking for?

Sounds like you like the immediate torque response from the spool of a turbo or maybe a positive displacement blower on a big motor domestic car.

Maybe your friend's car is not set up correctly.

I have given lots of people rides in my car. And the wow factor is there...just not until 7,000 RPM at which people say it feels like their skin is going to peel off their face or that they are in some kind of vacuum. That's also the point where the tires start spinning. They have even spun in cold conditions on the 5-6 shift at 148mph.

I have a bunch of airstrip videos racing modded supercars like upgraded blower GT40's, fully built Z06's, upgraded turbo 911's, FBO GTR's and have beat them all. Just search for longboarder949 on YouTube.

Good luck with your search for the right car/mods for you.
