Recommended tires for 20" wheels?

I'm about to buy tires in the following sizes:

Front: 245/30/20
Rear: 295/25/20

What are some of the better tires out there?

Also, what wheel dimensions would be ideal for having the wheel sit flush against the fender? FWIW, my car is already lowered on H&R springs.

Vredestien Ultrac Sessanta.

Great performance and a great value.

Give them a shot...you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good these tires are given the price. The Vredestein Sessanta's are the best value in high-performance tires IMO.

Performance Plus Tires in Long Beach, California sells them.

Just a quick question - do you think a 275/30/20 would work up front on a 20x9 20et wheel? I'm running approx. -2 degress of camber.

Thx!

No that size will rub for sure...

The tire size you mentioned has a rolling diameter of 26.5" which is almost 3/4 of an inch taller than stock. The section width of the 275/30/20's is 10.6". That's overkill for a rim that is 9" wide.

Combine that with your suspension drop (via the Eibach lowering springs you have now)...and that tire size will rub like crazy.

You don't want (or need) tires that big on your front wheels in my opinion.

The 255/30/20 tire size is a much better fit for your application. It has a rolling diameter that is much closer to stock (26.1"), and section width (10.2") will work out much better for your 20x9 et20 front wheels.

It's all you really need.

Thanks for the info. I suspected as much.... I was concerned about combining a 255 front with a 295 rear resulting in significant understeer. In any event, I'll stick with my current plan of 255/295 combo (on volk G2s). BTW, I'm probably going to change over to the Moton setup that bimmerworld is offering so I should have a little more control over the amount of understeer.... can't wait!!

thanks again,
Barry

It won't be as bad as you think...

If Barry adjusts his suspension settings to the correct camber and toe settings, he can effectively neutralize a lot of the understeer he will incur with the disparity in tire diameters front and rear.

Even with a such a large difference in tire sizes, all hope is not lost. You just need to know a few tricks, in order to avoid this kind of negative result.

I run Pirelli Pzero's 255/30/20 and 305/25/20. My car is really low on KW's. No rubbing at all.

Wheels are ET +28
