BMW Tire & Rim Warranty

Hi,

New to the forum as I just bought a 2011 Jerez blk M3...

The dealer offered the Tires and Rim warranty and I am not sure if I should get it.. here are the details..
Covers damage caused by debris, broken glass, nails, pot holes, rocks, tree limbs, blow outs or any other foreign objects
- Covers your BMW Standard and Winter Tires & Rims installed on the vehicle
- Covers labour, parts, balancing, mounting, installation, taxes.
- Unlimited number of claims
-No maximum claim amount
-Applicable at any BMW Retailer in North America
- Essential for vehicles with Run-flat tires or Sport Packages.
-Sign and Drive warranty (you are not left out of pocket waiting for reimbursement.)
-Also covers curb scuff – Up to $200 per event

Total cost ~$2K... is this worth it?

Thx

Depends on a few things:
- keeping stock wheels and tires?
- local road conditions (potholes and construction)
- driving style

I used this product quite a bit on my old E60 (2 wheels, 3 tires). I also have it on my E90. To me it's worth it, but to some no. Some dealers won't honour the warranty unless it's OEM wheels and tires PURCHASED at the dealer. Aftermarket wheels are very unlikely to be covered. Some dealers are more lenient on tires (brand and purchase location). I believe the first curb rash within the first year is replaced for free as well.

Congrats on the new car!

I've always passed on this myself, from my perspective you'd be better served saving the $2k for a new set of tires a few years down the road. Its an ok insurance policy if you EXPECT to damage your tires/rims... but if you don't have any issues then you are just tossing the money away. For reference in the past 5+ years of BMW ownership I would have needed this warranty exactly zero times... would have been a big waste.

i got it for my m3, but then declined it just recently when i picked up an x6. it's one of those things right? you don't get it and you end up with a bunch of nails in your tires.. you get it and you go 1.5 years with no incident.. (my m3) hahah.

In Calgary they had a tire only option that cost $450 and will cover any tire on the car for any reason.

I live in a new area of Calgary and i get lots of nails so this seem like a good option for the price.
