U.S. Government holding my 2013 hostage

My 2013 E92 for domestic delivery is in production now and will be done July 6 in Regensberg. According to my man Joern Esser at Passport BMW, there is some form of U.S. government clearance that is still pending for the whole 2013 M3 model line, and I can't get delivery until it's taken care of.

I hope the government clearance doesn't take more weeks than the car's transit to the PDC. The PDC won't even be able to schedule my delivery date until this is cleared up.

Cue Tom Petty . . . .

Probably the same issue we had last year with the EPA clearance.

Obama needs a little more tax from you on that M3 to cover Obamacare now that the Supreme Court upheld it. Just mail in a bigger check, and you can get your M3.

Oh great, another one of those lets blame the president for every nit-noid thing type people.

Here is some perspective,

Gas Guzzler tax started in 1978 for imported vehicles - way before Obama was President

Let's play - "get more perspective."

I wonder who was president in 1978? Why that would be the peanut farmer- Jimmy Carter!

like one has anything to do with the other

your logic is Jimmy Carter established law = Obama's fault.

If you really want to get technical, all presidents after Carter, republican and democrat, upheld the law. So by your logic of precedent and following in each others footsteps, then it must be all their faults too? right?

If my thread is jacked, at least let me get my pumps in.

Actually he lives right around the corner, so I can just drop it off on my way home, and wave at the House and Senate on the way.

At my current effective Federal tax rate, I paid $22,000 of wage and income taxes on the money I earned to pay for the car, but it took me a while to save up, so that covers more Rs than Ds.

I pay about $2,000 in state sales tax for the vehicle at acquisition, but the Gov is an R.

And don't forget all the federal, state, and local taxes I'll pay at the pump - about $1 for every two gallons of gas.

I live in Fairfax County, with a 4.57% annual auto tax, which will cost me $3,000 the first year alone.

Add $75/year for carbon offsets, so I don't have to take any c__p from anybody, and I'm all set to go, car-tax wise.

Living in a great country is never cheap. Neither is driving a great car.

We have conduct various tests for safety's sake. Some may say these tests are un-necessary but.............. I disagree. I must say though the 0-100 mph test is my fav.

I promise not to go past 6000 rpm.........

Happens every year for the early MY deliveries (late Aug thru mid Sept). It's the price you pay for the first MY 13. Should not delay you too much. Good luck.

Yeah, that made sense.

OP's car clearly wouldn't have been held up at PDC under Romney's watch.

We dealt with this last year as well for MY2012s. Some people's cars (including mine) were held at the VPC for several weeks pending EPA and CARB clearance.

There is a person at the EPA that specifically handles BMW clearance on new models.

See my post from last Novemeber: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=824

I think Chris Nevers was the guy's name. You can call and ask him specifically about the EPA clearance. Last year, Chris called BMWNA to expedite it for us after we brought it to his attention.

The CARB clearance can be monitored here: http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert.../2012.php?so=4

Thanks, all. That's exactly the kind of retrospective info I figured I could get here - search wasn't that helpful. Back to Tom Petty for now . . . .
