Yellowed side marker emblems?
I have the aftermarket matte black side markers, the ones that came with both the OEM color emblems and the grayscale emblems. I installed the grayscale emblems. They've been on the car for about 5 months now, and the transparent plastic of the emblems is yellowing.
Is this happening to anyone else with the aftermarket sides?

That's typical for non-OEM upgrades IMO; that's why I avoid them, unless OEM is REALLY ugly. Not knocking down every aftermarket part out there, but it pays to do some research. For instance, I wanted to get rid of my ugly amber reflectors, but the only clear ones on the market have bad fit (compared to stock) and trap water. Not the compromise I was looking for after paying more than an OEM replacement. Needless to say, I stayed stock.
Now to your problem. You have 3 options: try to get your vendor to replace them (and be ready to do it every 'x' months), find a better replacement (maybe a euro OEM part?), or go back to stock. Good luck man. |

+1 on what elp_jc said. I have that very issue with my clear markers and sent my OEM ones to get painted.
I have the side marker lights from jLevi and used the monochromatic M decals as I liked the look better but also because the std ones were already defective out of the box. lol "MADE IN CHINA" is definitely does not stand for long term, quality purchase (unfortunately). I'm not knocking EVERY Chinese supplier but I try to avoid them because I tend to be a bit picky and many times their QC is not up to OEM std. As the old saying goes.. We get what we pay for. Anyway, back to OP Q...I've had my side markers on since March 09 and they are still in very good condition. However, my car is always garaged and doesn't spend a whole lot of time baking in the Sun, (which I'm sure will deteriorate them quickly). GL getting new (or better ones)

... +1 my clear reflectors are starting to yellow up just a bit, had them since Nov 08 ... we don't have covered parking at my office...and they keep trimming all the trees every few months and get no shade WTF...anyway, didn't notice it until someone mentioned it.. I can live with it for now. I still prefer them over the amber ones and painted replacements. I'm sure there are other items on the car that are 'wearing'.
