could somebody confirm whether my understanding of perforated oem mod is correct?
1. take out the fiberglass (hairy stuff) from the center chamber, exposing the perforated pipes
2. cut out the perforated pipes and replace them with solid ones
3. put the fiberglass back in

is that it?

Small correction - typically only the large perforated pipes are covered/replaced and the small ones are left alone.

Also what material would be ideal if I just cover the perf pipe without replacing it with the solid ones? Is there any difference (result wise) between replacing the perf pipes or covering the perf pipes? Thanks

I had the tips powder coated black so you can't see the residue build up. It definitely changed the looks of it.

As for the sound. When idling, you could tell anything was done but not too loud. But as soon as you step on the gas, it's a whole difference world.
That looks great! I went with tips from a vendor on here named CYBA. The best way to explain the width of them is that they hug the OEM tip perfectly when placed around it.

What would you have in mind for covering it? The only difference would be longevity IMO. I am sure that replacing with new piping and welding it would last a lifetime compared to wrapping it with something that could wear off overtime.

A buddy of mine did this himself. Here is the link, he may have more answers for you. I have the bypass method.
