Code 27A1 = throttle sensor?

About six months ago my M when into limp mode on the way to work, when I came back out at the end of the day it changed its mind and hasn't misbehaved since, until today. I was able to hook a reader up and pulled 27A1 and 2B57, which I know is just a code for limp mode. I can't find any reference to 27A1 on the M3 forums but on the M5 they say it is a faulty bank 1 throttle sensor. I just want to make sure this is valid for the M3 as well before I go buy a sensor?

Thanks!

You should shoot a PM over to regular guy...

http://www.m3post.com/forums/member.php?u=201585.

He created the sticky that covers a whole bunch of engine codes on the "Engine, Transmission, Drive Train..." section.

I asked him about a code that i had, and he sent me the information i needed. He was very helpful.

27A1 is throttle actuator for bank 1 -- passenger side. 27A2 is bank 2 -- drivers side.

Yea I saw that on the other thread, hoping its just the sensor though. I'm gonna try the sensor first since it's ~100 and hope it fixes the limp mode i'm getting.

Yea. If not, is it better to buy a whole new TA or try to rebuild with aftermarket gears?

Symptoms are very mild right now. car smells like its running rich, idle varies a little occassionally, and when the DSC/Engine malfucntion/Limp mode happens the idle goes up to 1k rpms

Having rebuilt 4 actuators with new gears, I am confident about only one so far. One definitely is still failing and I am not yet sure about the other two. Were I doing this again, I would buy a new one.

Okay thanks, that is the route I will go then. Have they upgraded components at all or am I replacing it with the same faulty parts?

Same parts. But they seem to be good for 5 years and 50k.
