Does EDC have a soft setting or is it just a hard/track setting?

The Edition M3 has a lowered suspension (10mm) , so I didn't think I needed EDC. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding the function of EDC..

I can get my hands on the same car, but with EDC. However the rims are Silver instead of Black.

What do you guys think?? Is EDC worth it enough that I should choose that option over the OEM Black Rims?

I think it'd be way easier to simply change your wheels later on versus trying to install EDC.

If you really must have EDC then just get the silver wheels and powder coat them or see if someone with black ones is willing to swap. I'm happy with the stock suspension without EDC but it is a nice feature I admit. I have something similar in another of my vehicles but I wouldn't call it a necessity for myself. However, my other car goes from stiff, to really stiff, to bone jarring!

The M3 goes from soft, to sport and then to stiff. I winter drive mine with the 18's and it is pretty smooth for a sports car. My GF thinks it rough but she drives a tank SUV

Your call as always, just trying to provide some advice. Lots of people are very happy not having EDC but then lots of people then buck up and buy coilovers when they have no clue what they are doing. No clue about spring rates, shock valving etc. Lots think stiff suspension is good, ie the stiffer the better. Not at all so

GL either way. You'll still be very happy.

Who keeps their rims stock these days anyhow, you'll be modding your beast in no time

I have changed my exhaust from the Akrapovic Evolution System to an Eisenmann Sport with connecting pipes with the mufflers powdercoated black and tips in Chrome.

I have a set of BBS LM's in 20" on order with PS2's in 245/30/20F and 265/30/20R

European Front Bumper is going to be ordered factory painted from Germany and will be drop shipped directly to the dealer.

Eibach Springs are at IND and are waiting to be shipped with some Grilles, Side Gills and Mesh Pieces done in Gloss Black.

IND has the Brembo 380MM BBK at their facility fresh from being colormatched in Moonstone by Brembo in California!

Here are some teaser photos of the Brembos

I'd like to say that if any of you want to source parts for your M's I highly recommend using IND. IND is absolutely the Best and will supply anything your heart desires all for killer prices with awesome service.

Question:

If you order a european bumper, is it possible to retrofit the front parking sensor?

Thanks for you input guys.

SparkyG, I settled on the FULLY LOADED M3 with EDC! You and everyone here have convinced me. I will get the rims powder coated to match the rest of the car. Any recommendations on shops that do powder coating? I want them identical to OEM!

Thanks again!

Hey all,

Just letting you know, I got a email from the dealership telling me they have announced 4.9% financing for 2010 models.

Cheers,

Got my '08 at 1%

Crazy BMW financing

Good to hear you got EDC, its really a great investment for our road conditions

Get some HRE's, dont even think about coating. The coating always ends up being a slighlty different colour and it costs way more than you think

Better yet, spank up some Neez

Hey, I'm looking for 18" e9x rims in the Edmonton area.
tires + tpms would be a bonus.

Hit me up with a pm if you have anything available.

hey guys!
as you know i'm not driving a M3... however i do have a question for you guys in E-town...i'm thinking of going with coilovers on my car...
current ground clearance is 5.8 in (4x4 style ), whereas the M3 is "only" 4.25in from what i could find here...
how does your M3 behave on our roads, parking lots...?? this is not my DD, so i'm not talking after a big snow storm, but just when our city crews got lazy clearing streets... any scraping issues? what about the crazy bumps on Canadian Tire parking lot??
i would aim for only 1" - 1.5" lower, so if your M3s are fine, then i should be...
Thanks for helping fellow car enthusiast!

Pat

The M3 has plenty of clearance on stock height. I've never needed to avoid speed bumps but at certain declines/inclines I have had to approach at angles in order to avoid scraping. Any lower and I'm going to have to be a lot more careful.

alright, thanks for the reply...
i should be OK with 1.5" max then... i just have to make up my mind now on what i need most (better handling vs. more power vs. better tires)

Cheers,
Pat

Hey guys, another Edmontonian here.

Sorry to change the subject, but does anyone know of someone that would want to buy a set of 20 inch Vossen VVS 085 wheels? (brand new with Falken tires).

PM if interested.

Take Care

EDIT: I posted some photins and info in the Main Thread

So how does it feel to get it back out on the road?

I'm still waiting till we constantly see +5c out there before the summer tires get mounted.

It's therapeutic, just pure visceral therapy.

It was just nice to hear the exhaust roar again outside of the garage and hit redline. Going to rip around a bit today again. Have to get it in to Theo at Karmac again shortly to add the rear BBK which came in late last season. I think that may be it for me then.

hi !
my lady and I will be hitting the road to Vancouver on Saturday... i'm still undecided between the Jasper / Hwy 16 route vs. Calgary / Banff / Hwy 1.
the latter is about 120 km more, but probably better at this time of the year... anyone experienced that before? i'm sure some of you have driven to Vancouver before

Thanks for sharing !
Pat
PS: if anyone reads this and wants to break into my house while i'm gone, go ahead, but there's nothing worth the trouble in there and make sure you set it on fire so that i can get it rebuilt
