The last two summers I just left my RS29s in all the time as well. By the time I was done with track mods for the car, it was a treat for all senses:

Sight: bright Interlagos Blue
Sound: squeal of Pagid pads; roar of full Dinan exhaust
Feel: rumble/vibration from full Dinan exhaust
Smell: nasty smell of catless setup
Taste: nasty taste of exhaust fumes

It was antisocial and fantastic!

Did you wash the rotors as directed? They look pretty silver. Probably not an issue now if you've driven it.

washed and scrubbed with soap, hoping it was enough.

Ok...I usually get runs of rust after washing. Doesn't take much.

I usually put a light coat of anti-seize on the bridge bolts. Lube the shaft so it slides in and out easier (that's what she said). Then lube the threads so you don't strip the timecerts. You can buy replacement timecerts and bolts. Just don't strip anything else on the caliper...then you're f'd.

Yeah, the Essex kit is better if for no other reason is the anti-knockback feature. Not sure about the consumables if replacement discs are $360ea. But the Essex kit is a little more...I'll just deal with the pad knockback. But these would definitely get a look if I had to buy a new BBK.

I got some rust looking runoff, but all washed out.

Haha. #4. I just keep a spare set of fronts for both track cars in the trailer. Ability to brake seems addictive to me. I want more. Screw wheel choices. When I ran the GT3 on stock pads one weekend, I never felt comfortable. Bolted on pagids and all is well again.

I'm not running 12hr or 24hr races, ST-40 seems like more than enough to handle 20-30 minutes sessions. I like to have options, and we'll see how I like them at the track, think it'll be fine.

The ST-40 was more my liking than the ST-60, but I'm sure there are benefits and drawbacks to both. I'm no expert, but likely I won't hit the limit of each any time soon... lol I'm just not that fast, but I like braking, and stopping power as well.

Nicely done OP! If you feel like experimenting with other pad compounds, PFCs are also popular on our cars. The 01 compound is the sprint version (hardest-core but fastest wearing and most rotor-hostile) and the 08 has nearly the same bite and somehow both the pads and rotors last longer with them -- and they cost about the same as 01s. All that sold me on 08s when I saw how much PFC pads cost in my ST-60 fitment: $480-550 just for the front!

I mention this mostly because I did a fair amount of research on pads myself before buying and I found that lots of people love the Pagids bit acknowledge that they're VERY picky about being bedded in properly, whereas the PFCs don.'to really care. I personally swap my PFCs in a week before I'll be at the track and drive gently during the week to scrape the street pad deposits off the rotors, then leave them in a week after the event to scrape their own deposits off before going back to street. Obviously race pads make far better scrapers than street pads.

Out of curiosity though, what did you mean about the ST-40 making street/track pad swaps viable compared to the ST-60? Not that I disagree with your reasoning for going ST-40, but it seems equally easy on both choices. I went with the ST-60 myself because I figured a heavy car like ours needed all the fade resistance it could get (thanks to the 380mm rotors, primarily) and because the pads should last longer due to spreading the load over their larger surface.

Sweet. They look surprisingly big behind the 19's, I guess the calipers help. I also went with the st40 (trophy because I like the added lightness and the finish better) fronts for similar reasons, mostly because I don't want to compromise on running my 219M's. Sweet. V

If you can't find pagid street pads (I thought our stock pads were made by pagid, or are they juried), maybe you can switch to PFC next time if they make a z-rated and '08 pad in the ST40 size.
