Valentine 1 in mirror with no Compass
Want to share a few pictures from the recent installation that we did on our customer's car who came all the way from Socal to get it done.
The main goal of this project was to make it look OEM like and to make sure there are no wires seen anywhere. Goal was achieved ! First of all , this car looks great ! Those RAC wheels look very nice! New Mirror with the "Mute" button installed Rear headrest is installed with no wires being seen Done! |

Very nice looking, professional job! However, I've always maintained that putting the V1 display in the RVM is not optimal. The idea is to set it up so only the driver can see the display and do so without moving his eyes too far from looking at the road. Anyone behind you, including cops, can see it when it's in the RVM.
I suppose a HUD is best place for this. I'm actually working on doing this in my car. When I get time on weekends, that is, which isn't all that much. Hopefully, I'll get it finished and put up pics soon. Cheers.

I'd gladly accept a slight (very slight) performance degradation in radar frequencies for the stealth. But, not at the expense of losing laser. YMMV. Cheers.

There's been some geek testing over at RadarDetector.net. Though most of it was stationary testing to see what happened with the signal/reception strength. It don't know how well that translates to delayed detection when you're at cruising speed.

As we all know, the laser option on V1 is useless. By the time you get an laser alert from V1, the LEO already knows your traveling speed. The best solution to stay away from speeding tickets is to drive under posted speed limit |

I actually like the laser warning on my V1 I use it in combination with a Laser Interceptor. But I keep the volume off on the LI cause I can't stand the stupid voice and noises it makes. So my V1 alerts me that my LI is jamming a laser

I put the "YMMV" in that post because there are different opinions about whether laser detection is really helpful. To me it is. On a few occasions it has alerted me to a laser trap up ahead before I could see the cop or he could see me. This only happens when there is traffic though. I figure that that V1 is picking up scatter off of other cars that are targeted ahead. Most of the time the alerts are false, but I always treat them as a real alert until I'm sure. Still, it has saved me a few times.
As far as turning the LI sound off, I wouldn't do that. I have a Lidatek LE-30 jammer (but I haven't installed it on the M3 yet). I mount the LE-30 low in the fender and the V1 high on the windshield. This is good for early alerts from the V1, whether it's laser or radar. In close, the LE-30 does a better job of picking up the laser. Sometimes the V1 doesn't alert but the LE-30 does. I wouldn't know if I have been targeted if the LE-30 hadn't sounded. This may not seem like much of a difference but the LE-30 has a duty cycle of 5 seconds jamming then 30 seconds off before resetting. This gives you 5 seconds to adjust your speed. This is a good thing, because as it's jamming the LEO is suspicious. But, if he gets a lock on you later (when you've adjusted your speed) he likely won't think he's been jammed. You see, errors with laser gun readings happen all the time since it is not the easiest thing to aim them correctly. And even when the gun (those that have this capability) says it's being jammed, that's not always the case so the LEO doesn't always have confidence in the "jam" or "error" condition that it is being jammed. So, an error showing up but later when the car is closer a good reading is taken, mimics real life conditions. Sorry for the long winded reply. I hope you get my drift. Cheers.

I get your drift, but still find it unnecessary. The LI will jam continuously until I decided to turn it off which I usually do. Even if I don't turn it off and the cop figures out he's being jammed it really doesn't matter because jammers are not illegal in NY.

I here you, but I don't want to give them any reasons to pull me over. And believe me, they don't need a good reason to do that.

The other option you could do is to pre-program jamming time to 3 sec, 5 sec. This way you don't need to turn it OFF every time you jet jammed. |

^--- I just wish the stupid sound from it wasn't so annoying. The V1 has a nice soft beep. Oh well, everyone has their own method. I may end up pulling my LI out all together.... I've jammed a few cops with it, but I've always spotted them before they even hit me with laser and I was never speeding at the time. The LI does work though, my buddy who's a cop tried it out with me. He can't get any reading on me unless he aims at my roof, that's too far away from the LI heads to jam the gun

You think your LI is annoying? The first time my LE-30s went off I nearly jumped out of my skin! But I'd rather be alerted by a jarring noise than miss a soft beep.
Cheers.

I don't really care if the cops see my V1. It's only illegal in DC and VA (in the US), and since the V1 is not invisible to detector/detectors, I put it away in those areas anyhow.
I ususally set mine up at the bottom of the windshield in my sight line so I can read it to determine where the threat is.
