The person whom I'm speaking to at the moment is really making life difficult. Much appreciated. Thanks.
I would suggest you call them via Skype, speak directly to someone then email from there.

The sales rep I spoke to isn't interested in selling tyres for whatever reason. I doubt calling him is going to make any difference.

Post back on how you go and who you deal with. I have to buy a set in 6 months and was planning on buying from Tirerack.

For info guys, I dealt with Clint (email clint@tirerack.com) who was pretty good. I purchased 4 x 20” inch run flats for the X5 and 4 for the M3 – all went very well. The only glitch to be careful of is to ensure that Tirerack clearly show on all documentation that the tyres are new. If this is unclear in any way Australian customs will sting you for around $200 for an inspection fee where they check for dirt, bugs etc.

Well it has been 3 days and there is no response from Luke.

If you get Cody, he will be more than reluctant to sell you tires as he was trying to persuade me not to split the tires as they will end up being more expensive. This is contrary to the response that I've read in this thread.

Because tirerack does not accept CC payments, you have to pay via bankwire which does take a couple of days to clear, you do need to plan your purchase in advance.

Shipping prices have gone up as you all know so please make allowance for that.

I decided to pay more and purchase through my local dealer whom I get my race tyres from.

Your other alternative that is hassle free is to purchase from Vividracing. They allow CC payments and you are able to chat with their sales representative online via their website (US time). Service is excellent. Tyre price was cheaper than tirerack by a few dollars per tyre however the freight was a bombshell.

Because they are willing to undervalue the tyres, you negate the need to split your shipping up (which cost more) as is the case with tirerack.

Hence I would say there is marginal difference in price (few dollars) between your purchase with tirerack or Vividracing.

Nonetheless, by the time the tyres land in Australia, it will still be a few hundred dollars cheaper.

I'd say monitor the news in the Middle East and hope the situation does not boil over. Fedex is quick to revise freight charges depending on oil prices.

I'll post back how I go in a few months, my Advan Sports are getting down and I will be going with Bridgestone Potenza S-02A or Michelin Pilot PS2.

Well after Karchering under my car today and pulling all the wheels off I found that the negative camber on my car has all but buggered the insides of my rears with at least 4mm left on the rest of the tyre. So my purchase is now imminent and I have emailed Luke, Clint and Billy so we shall see how we go.

An update for those that might be interested. I have ordered two front tyres from Tirerack through Clint and the service thus far has been excellent, can't fault it. Freight was US$276.58. Locally the tyres were about $520 each, if I don't have any more to pay I expect them to land for $405.00 each.

I ordered Michelin PS2s, these are out of stock in the US and Australia on long term backorder. I found that they are still available in the UK so I have ordered them and they are being airfreighted out. Locally if I could get them they are $930 each, if I don't have any more costs to pay I expect that they will cost me around $510 each.

Yes I know, I am under $1k including freight on the fronts, but I might get caught on the rears as it is over.

I have bought several sets of tyres of gill@tirerack.com. He usually responds to my emails within 24 hours (he prefers pm as he is sponsor on 1 addicts). From contact to receiving tyres takes no more than 7 days - this includes first contact, payment clearing AND shipping to door. I cant fault his service, so quick! He will ship the moment your payment has cleared (about 24 hours in my experience) and keeps you up to date with emails and tracking number. I will be making full use of the exchange rate until such time as local price differences no longer run into the hundreds if not thousands!

Tyres arrived today via Fedex after being shipped economy last Friday, US$276.58. Excellent service from clint@tirerack.com. I haven't seen them yet so I am assuming they are right though!
