Advice about seating position!!!
Hey guys, I was wondering what is the proper way of sitting while driving. I was told by my friends that you should sit in a kind of "lie down" position, but I get too comfortable I kinda get sleepy while driving sometimes.

1. You want the ratio of your legs at 77 degrees ideally and the steering wheel no more than 1.5 times the depth of your chest away from you.
2. Your back to thigh angle should be precisely 105 degrees. 3. Keep your chin down a bit as much as possible. 4. While it is somewhat difficult try to keep your rectal tone just tight enough to hold an imaginary egg without breaking it but also not loose enough to let it move around. On a side note do not use an actual egg. I'll never make that mistake again. Well...not a third time. |

laying down is definitely the proper way to sit. Can't imagine driving in any other position. In fact, you should "lie down" just enough to see out of the side windows. This will lower the center of gravity and make your car feel more sporty.

Honesty, just one letter "H" in that word above and this thread could really be funny.

You should be a lot of upright than you'd think. Instructors said to be able to hang your hand down on the wheel, so your wrists are on the top of the wheel, while your shoulders are against the seat back.
The other thing people have wrong are the mirrors. Most people have them so you see the side of the car. You should have them so you have to move you head side to side a fee inches to see the side of the car. This will cover your blond spots while easily seeing behind you, but that's what the interior mirror is for. Try it for a week and see which way you like better. Edit. Just saw the vid. What he said.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

This thread should have been started in the Track Discussion section.
I try not to drive with an eye shade on because it kind of makes me sleepy while driving sometimes. |

Don't like the hand over hand steering Technique (as shown in the video). You lose the sense of when the wheel is back in the straight ahead position. If you think that keeping your hands on the quarter to three position is not going to give enough turning then you move (for a sharp left turn) your right hand to the six thirty position on the wheel and keep it there and move your left hand as necessary to give leverage on the wheel to make the turn. Then when you bring your right hand back to the 630 position the wheel is back pointing straight ahead.
