You're absolutely correct. I had done a crappy job searching the BMW site. I clicked on 3 series and the wagon didn't pop up, but now I found it.

Depending on your budget I would recommend a G class if you want just a bad ass "family" SUV, a jeep grand Cherokee diesel if you want a practical SUV. E class wagon or a 3 series wagon also make great choices for kid haulers, (e class has an option to seat 7).

Again counseling 101 here. You do not need a 3rd vehicle or the bill for it for that matter. You have two very capable vehicles, although the Land Rover is known for reliability issues I would get out of that car and into a CPO or 2012+ E70 X5. Done.

It is just not a smart move at all, especially with a new baby coming.

I counsel military folks on the pros and cons of these types of situations from E1-E7. And I see this come up weekly.

I like the 535xi wagon a lot...not a ton of those around, and prices pretty high, but definitely on the list! Thanks!

Thanks for your viewpoint, but the decision to go to three cars wasn't my question. When I bought the M3 it was with the intent to be a third car to be driven often but not daily, and even less so in cold months. While it's true that I probably don't "need" a third car, none of us here "need" an M3 either but we still own them. I do like your suggestion of a CPO X5 -- test-driving the diesel version on Friday.

No worries.

Just make sure you really want that $60,000 bill.

CPO X5 is a smart move. Good luck!

No need for a fancy vehicle.. just get something like an Escape(leather+sync) or Pathfinder and call it a day...spend more on toys or vacations. I'd rather go for a new car rather then a CPO luxury car. Honestly the DD has to be reliable and let's be honest here Euro cars are not reliable..I don't see the day where my DD will be german again. An other thing is that there are so many poor drivers out there or people not giving a flying F about other people belongings that will open their doors on your car at the mall therefore a modest DD is the way to go.
