as much as i love the new GTR, i still have that nostalgia for the R34 GTR. and i'd take the Z-Tune over the new GTR hands down...i don't care how mod-friendly the new motor is. maybe its just my affinity for indestructible inline-6's

If it was a regular R34 vs the GT-R then it would be a little harder to choose. But Z-Tune R34 vs the new GT-R? I will take the Z tune hands down.

Can the Z-tune get to 60 in 3.3 seconds?

Can the Z-tune get around the track faster than a GT3?

Mine's GT-R = R34.
he's not saying it isn't an R34. when someone references the "GTR", he or she is referring to the brand new "R35" GTR.

in response to your first question, i'm not entirely sure. but with the power its making, the ability to launch at high revs due to AWD, and the fact that weighs significantly less than the new GTR, i'd say there's a very good chance it can manage 0-60mph in 3.5 sec. or less.

in response to your 2nd question, without a doubt it can lap certain tracks faster than a 997 GT3. and it will certainly be quicker than the 996 GT3 an even more circuits. i'd even be willing to bet that it can outperform a 997 GT3RS on a few circuits.

R34, without a doubt. It's more mod friendly too, since it's been out for such a long time now.

The one thing I don't really like about the new GTR is the fact that modifying it will be a pain in the ass. Nissan rigged it so that you keep it stock. Although there will be ways around it, I would rather not fuck around just in case...

well, when you are only 2 second slower than Pagani Zonda F and second fastest production car in the world, do you really need to modify any faster or will it? I'd rather wait for V-spec to come out than try to modify the car mechanically...

understood, but that's not really the point of the thread. if you were given the choice between a brand new GTR and an R34 Z-Tune, which would you choose? on the one hand, no, the 2nd fastest production car in the world probably doesn't need to be any faster. on the other hand, the Z-Tune is a hell of alot faster than the world's 2nd fastest production car. so a new GTR would need quite a bit of modification to keep up with a Z-Tune.

I like the looks of the R34, but I think the R35 is even better.

It looks really unique and purely Japanese. I dunno, I wouldn't mod it and I'd be completely happy with it.

Well, there were 20ish z-tunes made, just for the collectable factor it would be my choice.

Tough call. But generally I prefer to get a new car than an older car...so have to go with the R35 GTR.
