I am on my 3rd e92 M3 and i still am in love with the car. there will always be something better out there but for an all around car i really think the BMW M3 is pretty tough to beat IMO.

worth every f-ing penny
have you felt how this thing behaves at the edge?
take it to the track
drift it in an empty lot
it's the best all around car at any price

IMO most mods make it worse

Anybody test drive the new Mustang 5.0? Its one bada$$ car with an instant smile to your face. Lets not even start talking about the Shelby GT500...these cars are phenomenal and more refined than ever before. Aesthetics/Mechanics have combined quite well at Ford these days and I'm seriously now considering these machines. Unless you live near the canyons/mountains or track's occassionally-the M3's capabilities are wasted..and that's a tad bit sad.

An M3 is a geek's car-someone who is obsessed with sheer numbers such as max. output from an engine yada yada-hell ask me....but these days-American cars are getting mighty close...especially @ Ford...

I love mine. It definately is the best pound for pound car on the road.

I drive mine every day and I genuinely look forward to my short commute.

you should sell me your rims! lol

a M3 is no Porsche

It will never be; it was never designed to be.

As an ALL AROUND car it's hard to beat

But, as a sports car, that's not hard to beat

a S2K can be more thrilling to drive.... I realllly want to buy a used S2k, Lotus, or something just to get that raw feeling back...

but as DD.... I would hate to have a raw car.

Maybe a Z4M would be better for you if you want to keep in the M line

I'm disappointed that my fenders sound like a pepsi can when I dry them off with the shamy, other than that cheap sounding feature it makes me go sub 9 minute and eventually sub 8 on the nurburgring so I'm happy YAY!

I am very disappointed with my M. when I bought it I was under the impression that it puts more than 500HP, 0-60 in close to 3 seconds, redline 18000RPM with seating capacity of 6 comfortably or 7 squeezed. I was led to believe that this E92 M3 is the best thing since sliced bread but now I know for sure it's not. Pizza is

So what exactly are you not liking about the car? Is it too slow, too heavy, too big, doesn't handle well enough, etc?

The M3 isn't a sports car per se...like others have said.

If you want more of a "race car" feel (which it sounds like to me), you could get a GT3. If you can't afford a GT3 RS, then maybe go for a gently used 996 GT3. However, let me warn you that it is very different from the M3.....

The 996 GT3 (and I am sure the GT3 RS too) is a street legal track car in nearly every aspect.

The ride is "firm" to say the least. It will handle like a son of a bitch but rear tires will last you about 4K, and they are about $400+ each.

Being as the car is so stiff, it is very sensitive to any imbalance. If a tire is down 2psi, you WILL feel it. The car is that sensitive, really.

You will not want to take it anywhere as you will not want to get door dings, etc, etc., the "trunk" is so small, it will hold a couple bags of groceries and thats about it, so think about that before you buy one. It is not a good daily driver at all. When I had mine, I found it sitting in the garage nearly all the time. It was sort of like this......I need to go to the store...i'll take the truck. I need to go to Autozone for oil...i'll take the truck. I need to go to xxxxx, i'll take the truck. lol

The car is very impractical for most things one would do in a typical day.

However, if you plan on going to the track, it's the car for the job.

The engine is crisp and responsive. The brakes are fricken phenominal. The handling is very responsive and feedback is second to none. This car shines on the track.

Also, as far as maintenace, it really aint bad at all. No major service until 90K or so. Parts are not THAT bad for routine maintenance either. However, I had a 3rd gear synchro go bad. To replace the synchro was about 5K. A new tranny was 15K. Luckily, I had transfered over the 1st owners extended warranty and they fricken bought me a new tranny, crated from Germany! lol. But, think about what it would cost if I had to pay. Damn!

So, after 3 years of ownership, and a lot of the car sitting in the garage, and just having escaped paying 15K to fix it, I decided to sell it. I had a ton of fun with it on the track, but those days were gone as life changes. I didn't have the free time that I did before, so the car was just a garage queen. That is why I went back to an M3. It is much more versitile.......and I use it, and enjoy it a lot more, most of the time.

So, although you are not happy with the M's performance, it is a damn good daily driver.........a daily driver that delivers about the best performance you can get. If you want to step it up, please realize there are drawbacks. Yeah, an M3 isn't a great racecar, but it is one of the best daily drivers you can take to the track and have fun with.

If you want to discuss the GT3 in detail, I would be happy to answer any questions....just let me know.

This is one of the best posts I've read in a while.

You really hit the nail on the head with this.

I think that for the OP, a GTR would be better.

a GT3 seems too raw.... What would you say to a C2S?

Personally, my dream is to have my e93 M3 as my DD (or whatever the next generation comes out to be) and a Porsche as my weekend joy.

But what will prly happen is I'll have to get some cheap sentra or civic as a dd lol.

Anyways, I think for the OP, if he wants to keep the M3, he will need to go all out and s/c it.... then it will give him the power he's after.

Otherwise, trading it in for a GTR or Porsche C2S should do the trick

I'm 22, almost 23, so I can get what you mean by not taking it to some events/places.
Thus I usually borrow my mom's Z4, or my grandma's camry. or just have my girl drive.
You would probably feel even worse taking a Porsche out.... I know I did back when I had my Turbo.

The love I feel for my E90 M3 grows with every RPM. The sound is intoxicating, and the drive is perfect.

I do sometimes feel restrained using it as a DD. But when I run it heavy on a track, then pick up the kids and take them to soccer, the decision couldn't be any more satisfying.
