Greetings South Florida People!

See you guys at the end of next week! And nice to meet you all.

Oh, if anyone wants to suggest an alternate route, I'm all ears.

Yes, skip I-12 and follow I-10 to New Orleans! Can't drive past New Orleans without stopping for a drink or something to eat...

Haha, sounds like a good route adjustment plan! I'm in no major hurry on my way over.

Austin is a GREAT city. If you can sneak a stop by Austin, you'll probably be glad you did.

Yup, moving to the Miami/Coral Gables area. I'm having a really hard time with the housing association at the place I want to move into, so I'm driving up and staying at a hotel for a short time. If it doesn't work out, then no matter how much I want to be at that place, I'm just going to have my real estate agent spring me for whatever can be gotten reasonably quickly and go for it.

Yeah, I've been through that dance with Associations before as well.

What complex are you moving to?

I would like to stay at Valencia Condominiums in Coral Gables for 1 year, then either move out of Florida or probably just find a different place. I've moved 14 times in my life, and this will make #15, so I'm not really one for buying a property right now, though I did find some pretty nice ones for reasonable prices. It's odd, the market for purchase in Miami so far seems fairly reasonable, whereas leasing has been nothing but a nightmare so far....

Good luck with the drive! I am doing SD-LAS-Boulder-New Orleans-Destin, FL in October. Around 2600 miles. But it'll be an awesome drive.

October in New Orleans, great time to pass through! Hopefully the worst of the heat has broken by then... The seafood festival, Voodoo Music festival and New Orleans film festival are all in October.

To both the OP and loflier, good luck with the cross country trek... Be safe!
