Intermittent ticking from the engine
Hi
I have a October 2011 e92 m3 . I noticed an intermittent ticking sound at idle from the engine while I entered my garage . It is irregular and when I rev the engine past 2500 rpm it reduces and most of the time goes away. I first noticed it after the break in service then it went away when I clocked 6000km now it has come back as I have clocked 12000km. What could it be . Thanks for your help. |

OP: Lots of threads on "ticking" noises. For the most part it's normal and not a bearing issue.
When my M3 was new and Dealer had just performed the 1200 mile service, I noticed the dreaded "ticking" noise and that the crankcase oil was low. Returned to the Dealer, they added oil and the ticking noise went partially away. Good luck!
