CF Doodads

Hi all- Newbe here. I've just acquired a '12 M3 E92. It's Mineral White and the PO installed some exterior carbon fiber parts. I personally don't care for the look with the white paint, and am seriously considering removing it all. He put on the front "splitters"(?), and the lower rear piece that surrounds the exhaust (whaddya call it?). Is there a market for these as used? Thanks for any opinions!

The rear piece is the diffuser, and yes there is a huge market for these CF parts, especially if they're OEM.

Agree with you, the car looks cleaner w/o them. But most here love these parts, so they're an easy sell. Jack up the price and let all the CF nerds pay up.

I happen to love the parts, but I have a black car. I do agree it looks a bit off on white. Would be interesting if you painted them white or wrapped them with silver CF.

For reference, IND sells painted splitters and has some pics here

I appreciate all the "help" from all that offered! LOL. I will attempt to carefully remove the pieces, and post some pics of 'em. I need to figure out how they are attached- it appears there is some type of black two-sided rubbery tape on the front splitters. Probably some hidden screws as well. We'll see...

It is probably some combo of double sided tape and screws.

"betalink"? IDK what that is- if I soak it with penetrating oil, will it eventually come off?

its BMW adhesive made for exterior parts like spoilers and splitters etc. i believe theres betalink remover thats only usefull to remove excess while installing. once the betalink is cured its on there for good and if you try to remove it it will take your paint off with it. but thats IF its attached with betalink, and its the above reasons why most of us use tape instead
but just dont yank it off assuming its tape

EJ makes a lot of sense here, typically if you take them off you are installing new parts or having the area repainted. People would kill for CF pieces, you may have to just enjoy them. And I'm surprised you do not like the look. CF looks awesome with white. Obviously that's subjective to our own tastes.

Becareful when you remove them, we do highly suggest to get it remove from a body shop to avoid any damage to the paint . The two-sided rubbery tape is most likely 3m double sided tape. It can be remove easily. If you can snap us a few pictures and we can most likely guide you how to remove the carbon fiber parts correctly!

IMO carbon fiber on white looks tits. My car is jet black, so CF doesnt stand out as much.

So it's the "fanboy" special- OK. Why are you surprised I don't like it? You think i'm a fanboy for what reason?

Not an insult just by far the most common color. I own an AW car myself.

Ok, mine's mineral white met. just like thkfast above. My main complaint is the CF splitters always drag on driveway aprons, etc. Being as they're attached with damn betalink, I've considered having them (splitters, diffuser, trunk spoiler) all sprayed to match. IDK...
