RE-11s vs NT05s for street and track

Which would you choose and why.

Opinions on
-street
-wet
-track
-etc...
are welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks

For dual purpose use I'd pick the RE11's because they come molded at 9/32" instead of 7/32" for the NT05.

Any opinions on noise and comfort between the two?

i stand by my opinion.

more street use = RE11
more track use = NT05

richbot is right, NT05 comes with less tread depth because theyre meant to be used as a semi-slick tire. and you get less tread squirm straight out of the box. you'll sacrifice wear if you go for NT05 due its reduced tread depth (NT05 will wear faster).

NT05 are pretty noisy for daily use IMO.
I would take the AD08 over both the NT05 or the RE-11 if I wanted a dual purpose tire if you can find the right size.

^+1. I've used both AD08 and RE-11, and AD08 wears out much more nicely and gradually compared to RE-11. RE-11 has a weird tread design which leads to uneven wear in corners.

ok im gonna call tmrw. whichever of the ad08 or re-11 they can get faster, i will get.

i would do 265/35/18 and 275/40/18 re-11s
and 265/35/18 and 265/40/18 for ad08s

and then i will just switch next time and try the other type.

are the re-11s skinny? a 275 re-11 would be approx the same size as a 265 ad08?

thx guys

AD08s are square, so they run a bit wide compared to other max performance tires.

AD08 is a great compromise between street and track. I use them myself

i believe it is in the same league.

ad08, RS3, nt05, re-11, supersport, direzza Z1.....all in the same league

*edit* actually no it's not in the same league...it probably lasts longer but may not have as much dry grip

I have not tried re-11s but just put NT05s on the car. They are not nearly as noisy as R888s and I find them fine for daily use. I have a staggered setup of 275/35/18 front with 285/35/18 rear. I had them on the track last weekend and found they were pretty good. Do really squeal to let you know when you are losing adhesion. Not as sticky as R888s but then I didn't expect them to be. I have some NT01s coming for my dry track day setup. Not terribly impressed with NT05s in the rain but not horrible either.

NT05s are really slick in the rain. i was running 50% worn nt05s on the track in the rain and it had NO grip in the corners... but then the dry grip on those tires are amazing. so its a compromise. overall i like them.
