2012 M3 Conv on order from BMW Northwest
Hey all ... as I ousted in th main forum, I ordered a 2012 M3 Convertible, in Jerez Back w/ Fox Red interior ... With all options.
I ordered 27/Aug, and was told I was the #2 2012 model from BMW Northwest. Apparently the order in front of mine is due to start production on/before md-Oct. I don't yet have a production number, so no production date for mine yet ... I so can't wait for it to arrive, I'm thinking probably just in time for Christmas. Was wondering if the person who ordered ahead of me is on the forums here? Also, what do folks do through the winter here in WA? Garage? Winter tires? Power through the bad weather? |

First off, welcome! Second, good luck with the waiting, it about drove me insane!
You will want winter tires (or at least all seasons) for the winter if you plan to drive it at all. The high-performance summer tires that come standard on the car won't perform well at all when the temperature is cold (below 40F from what I have been told). I plan to get some winter tires soon but I haven't decided which ones yet. I'm leaning toward something more geared toward good wet traction with decent snow performance since it snows so little in Seattle. And when it does snow I don't trust the rest of the drivers out there enough... There is a long thread about winter tire setups in the Tire and Wheel subforum that you might want to check out.

I tried ordering my M3 convertible from BMW Northwest since I'm based in Tacoma and I had done test drives of their cars. But they were too greedy and wanted almost 3x the markup that the CA dealer that sponsors this forum wanted. And BMWNW didn't have very solid answers when it came to allocations and ED. I ended up taking my business to BMW Bellevue who is getting me a car cheaper and faster.
In any case, good luck to you and see you around town. My E93 will be space gray / fox red. |

I got a pretty good deal (well, I think it's a pretty good deal) ... $1k above dealer invoice for the car, and dealer invoice for all options. Apparently production expected to start at the end of October .... as another poster said, the wait is killing me!

Indeed, you got a good deal. If they had offered me that deal, I would have taken it and saved the .2% extra King County sales tax.
I'm wondering if the sales guy I dealt with ever took me seriously. Do you have to wear a suit to be treated like a customer at BMWNW? When I showed up on a sunny Sunday afternoon wearing shorts and a tee and asked to test drive the used black E93 they had on the lot, the sales drone asked me if I was *actually* car shopping. Oh well. Their loss. I got the same deal in Bellevue, and I got the car a month faster. |

I had a negative experience with BMW nw too. They didn't take me serious walking through the door either. Not a surprise to me, for a few reasons but still disappointing. Ended up goin to bellevue and placed the order for my e92 Aug 28th. It's good to hear u had a better experience though, and it sounds like your gettin a good deal too.
Anyways good luck and welcome!

I actually had the complete opposite experience. I walked into BMW Bellevue twice and got totally ignored both times. Granted that I was wearing free company tshirts both times, but it was still quite disappointing. My friend also had similar bad experiences at BMW Bellevue. We all ended up buying from BMW Seattle instead. Of course, that could just be our lucks. Anyway, congratulations on your new car!

lol, actually my experience isn't too far off from yours. If it wasn't for JL's recommendation of Alvin at Bellevue, I honestly think I would have walked out on Bellevue a long time ago. 1st impression walking through the door is ... crazy uppity, but just looking at Bellevue as a city, that aint much of a surprise.

Damn I didn't know there was a regional forum for m3 too. I thought the whole site shared.
Op congrats on the car. Bmwnw has been pretty good to me also. Imreceived my car back from them with a cracked windshield and the gladly offered to replace it. Even though I had rock chips. I didn't notice the chips but they did and are still replacing |

Alrighty ... so, yesterday, the order status changed from "waiting at port for shipping vessel", to "en-route to the USA"!!!
It's on the boat! I'm told it's normally 26 days from Bremerhaven to the West Coast US ... so with some luck, and the winds blowing the right direction, I might have it by Christmas. Anyone else's car on the same schedule? I'm still trying to figure out which boat it's on.

Just got notification it's arrived ... and the dealer is pushing to complete all the PDI work today, to allow collection tomorrow.
I feel like a babbling idiot ... so excited. Honestly, it's been such a long wait, I can't believe the day is almost here..

What day was it unloaded at Port Hueneme? Mine is getting unloaded today, and I'm wondering how long it takes from there. |

It arrived at Port Hueneme on 15/Dec ... but I'd say delivery was delayed for me 'cos of Christmas.
