Best Wearing Interior Color

I'm torn. I really like the Fox Red. But I want the extended leather and I would rather the dash and console be black, not red.
I have black leather in my E90 now and I like it, but I thought I would make a change for the new ///M.

I've seen on Inside Line that they Fox red interior in their car hasn't aged too well and I wanted to know if any of you guys had that problem of if their issue was just because the car is driven by a ton of editors carelessly all the time.

Obviously the darker the leather the less it will show.

Black doesn't age the best either...

What exterior color????

In any case, it looks like you answered your own question if you want a black dash... or may get regular Fox Red... not extended?

I used to have Boxster red on a 986 which isn't all that different from Fox red. I was amazed how well it held up over time. No idea if the type of leather used is similar, but the color wore well.

Alpine White. Which is what I have now also with the black leather interior.

freshwhite, I ran a poll a while ago on Fox Red Vs Black Leather. You'll find that certain colour combinations (AW w FR) is quite popular. From the investigations that I've made the reality is that both black and red leather will wear at a rate proportionate to maintenance and how they are treated.

I think that certain marks will be more obvious on the red whilst not on the black, but black will have its own draw backs.

In the end - pick the colour that you feel most attracted to, I believe that if you look after it, it will wear and live very well.

Like others have said, it all depends on how well you care for and treat whatever you get. That said, the lighter the color, the more easily it will show dirt and disfiguration. I had gray leather in my last vehicle, and it started showing noticeable wear within a couple of years, and I'm very careful about taking care of my cars,

I think I'm going to go with the black. I really do love the Fox Red but I really want the extended leather and I don't like the way it looks with the Fox Red dash and console. Plus, as much as I hate to admit it I'm not fanatical about my cars. I really love them and care about them, but I don't always get to clean them as often as I'd like to.

Thanks guys. Sometimes you just need to think out loud to get an answer.
I really do look forward to getting my new ///M and moving over to the M3Post community.

I would have to say black as well.. Some would argue that black doesn't age the best either.. But imo black will hide early or current scuffs, dirt and wear better than any other interior color.

all natural leathers will show signs of wear if not taken care of properly... that being said, i have to say that black is prob the easiest to take car of out of all the colors... a dark brown color like terra shouldnt be hard to take care of ... unfortunately the other colors offered on the m3 are relatively light colors ...

Nothing against BMW but the M3's leather isn't as durable as the leather in a Porsche.

I think all will stand up equally well as long as you maintain them properly.

I've had them all, and black definitely wears the best. But as mentioned, that doesn't mean it doesn't require care. I didn't get a black interior until my last 2 cars, because it makes the interior somber and it's hotter than any other color (especially in hot TX), but everything is a compromise. I don't regret getting them, and it'll probably continue to be my interior color of choice in the future.

Oh, just remember to lever yourself in and out of the car, or you'd wear the leather prematurely, be it black or white. Take care.

actually you maybe wrong. the lighter the interior, the less wear shown. i noticed most black interior show really clear line, crack, dirt, etc.

e.g my 7 years old kiwi has no crack, line, dirt, etc...nothing at all.

It may sound silly, but if you go for black, what's the point of extended leather? You won't be able to really tell the way you would with fox red...

My E46 was Steel Grey on Grey Leather. I wear jeans quite often, and the blue of the denim bleed quite a bit.

same thing happend in my range rover. it had the extended leather apckage which included much more soft/natural leather and after 40000 miles the ouside of my parchment seats were blueish.

i love fox red but still cant decide if i like the half red dash. i prefer all black dash. but still want extended leather. who knows. i might not even make the decision until i go to order the car. luckily i have another 2 months to contemplate
