I meant approx 200 lbs total, (he already said the seats were 63 lbs each) including the stripping (82 lbs) he has already done.

So approx 160 lbs with a pair of Recaro and shedding the back seats etc. That's some pretty good weight savings.

had st40's installed on my old e90 M. beat the snot out of them 3x at watkins and 2x at limerock. Not much but I also drove the car daily and was able to go from summer to winter to track wheels without worrying about fitment issues around the calipers. also used the same pads all year and never an issue with the castrol srf fluid. amazing product for the price.

good luck

Thanks! I should receive them in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to using them on the track.

I had a chance to switch my Brembo 380mm front and rear to 365mm front 345mm rear. I decided to change it for better 18' wheel clearances.

Both brake sets feel the same to me.

I think the only difference, may be that the 380/380 will have better heat dissapation and heavier upsprung weight over the smaller 365/345 set up.

I went through the same thought process about this before deciding on the 365 kit. 380 has definitely more heat capacity but what does this mean? My calculations were as follows: Based on geometry the 365 rotor is about 4.6% lighter. Given that all other stuff is the same (slotted, same caliper, same pads, same cooling effectiveness) and assuming all kinetic energy goes into heat to the front brake (which is the absolute worst case) here is what it means: If you fade (=boil fluid) the 365 kit during braking from 110mph to 40 mph, the 380 kit will fade from 112mph to 40 mph. To me this means NO perceptible difference, especially if you factor in cooling and the fact that part of the heat will go tot he back brakes. So I get to keep my 2 sets of stock 18s too.

I didn't bother with rear brakes calculations as I consider them a cosmetic mod.

I couldn't make the same calculations with the stoptech setup because caliper and pads change from the 380 to the 355 kit.

Would be nice if someone could replicate my findings.

Yes, the stopTech does use bigger calipers, rotors and pads for the 380 vs the 355, so heat disapation differences may be greater. At TWS, where I mostly track my speeds are around 140 mph on front straight and 110 on back straight, so brakes heat up quite a bit. I went with the 380's for this reason and they fit my Apex 18" Arc-8's.

My StopTech BBK has arrived!

Does anyone have an estimate of how many hours it should take to install new kit including stainless steel brake lines?

Nice looking brakes! It took me about 3-4 hours for front bbk/ss line install, but I was not trying to rush at all and I had a couple of beers. You could definitely do the whole 4 corner setup in that time if you were more concerned about time. It isn't a difficult install really. Use a level or something to prop the brake pedal half down to minimize fluid leakage during the time when the line is not connected.

I don't really get the thermal capacity argument by some people ITT. Yeah, it isn't an insane difference going 355 to 380. But I don't think anyone on this forum could feel the few pounds extra sprung weight. So it is really just a wheel issue, and many 18's fit ST 380. Obviously OP agreed since you got the 380!

Thanks for the info! Hope fully I get all four corners done in around 4 hrs. The 380's will fit my 18's and so this helped my decision.

Thanks! I'm pairing them with StopTech's new SR34 race pads.
