base audio upgrade
Need some direction/advice
I been looking into upgrading my base audio. i have the 6 speaker set up. i been searching and searching not really sure about what the details are in regards to the parts. i don t want to get the electronic demons angry by doing the install myself hence i will go to a shop for install. I've read previous system upgrade mods I just want to know what i should focus on: speakers, amp, processor? i figure price is an issue. From what i have seen so far for speaker components i would be willing to pay about 500-700 for the set( so 1k to 1500 for the front stage). Dont know if i should go coaxial for the rear passenger speaker or get components there too? Not sure of what the advantage would be as some coaxial sets also come with a crossover module(MB quarts). i know the sub will be SWS8 2 ohm...easiest part of the problem. However i could go in a step wise fashion and add things along as i go if spending more money will make that much a noticeable difference in sound quality. As for the amp i am not really sure what the real cut off would be in price as they vary so much in price. Same goes for the processor. Thanks a lot. |

nope i checked. i can take pictures. In front: front pillars 2 functioning tweeters, middle of front doors 4 inch driver. Below front seats subwoofers. Rear passenger area below window has a single driver on both sides, no seperate tweeter. i am in the usa. decemeber build of 09, not sure if that had something to do with it.

If my math serves me right, what you described sounds like 8 speakers, not 6.
With that being said, I'd be surprised if Technic was wrong about anything... very very surprised. |

Check the left side of your trunk, under the plastic lid. You should see the OEM amp there. |
