DCT clutch engagement, slipping into 1st?

So for the most part I love DCT. However, I am somewhat annoyed at how long it takes to put the car in gear from a standstill. The car seems to rev the engine and slip into 1st gear at 1500 rpms. Kind of reminds me of someone who doesn't know how to drive manual well.

When driving manual I knew the exact point where the gear would engage and take off with no hesitation, fully engaging 1st gear around <800 rpms. Why can't DCT do this?

Is slipping into 1st at 1500 rpms normal or should I take my car in to the dealer to get it checked out?

Sorry for the crazy thread revival, but I am having a similar issue. Did you ever get this resolved?

I give the throttle a quick notch to engage the clutch and then take off. Works fine - no?

I got the GTS tune from Alex @ Alpine and the issue is resolved. More instant clutch engagement.

This can also be solved by running your car in sport power mode.

This works but is a bit annoying to do. I don't drive manual this way and it feels a bit clunky to have to do this with DCT.

I also HATE this. only when cold. makes a whole lot of noise and sucks. can anyone confirm other tunes that fix this?

I think the DCT calling for extra revs in 1st when cold is expected behavior.
Myself I pull away gently in 2nd gear when first driving off when cold.

Alex is going to be the most cost effective. and unlike an engine tune I don't really know what other tuners can do with the DCT that outperforms the stock GTS software.

As others have mentioned there are valid workarounds if you don't want a tune at all and just want to live with it.

Normal behavior. Try using the Sport throttle setting if you want the sensation of quicker take-up.

If you feel like it's really annoying, you can always visit your local BMW indie shop and have them perform the DKG "re-learn" procedure with the computer. Supposedly it is not necessary since things are self-adjusting, though it probably won't hurt.
