It is or was I thought too. I would honestly still get the E86 M or E92 M3 over a 1 M series car. Its to plain Jane for me...More plain than the M3.

I think the 1M is way to small on the inside, and feels cheap compared to an M3. I've owned E61 535 w/Dinan Stage II and although it was way heavier than the 1M, it still hauled ass. The torque was phenominal in everyday traffic. However that being said, I had many reliability issues: HPFP changed twice, Injectors changed twice, turbos replaced (because of a noisy wastegate which is part of the turbos) once, reprogramming done twice because of hesistation/missfire, few modules replaced a couple of times. I was at the dealership at least 20 times unscheduled during my 75,000km ordeal. Had I not had warranty I would be deep in my pockets.

Marwan, In my opinion, if you need more torque, you should supercharge the M3. Although I have no idea where you would use all that torque in "everyday driving".

Marwan, my brother has a 1m. Its a great car And a blast to drive. It has the best gear box of any car ive ever driven. It is a lot more raw than the m3, but the interior is not as refined/comfortable as the m3.

If you're looking for something more raw, has low end torque and are not fussed about the drone, you should pick up a 1m

I was under the impression that there is no such thing as a 2012 1M and that it was produced for the 2011 model year only... or is it still for sale outside of the US?

The 1M is indeed still in production outside of the US.

And since i have a strong relation with my dealer he can get me a 1M in less than a month, while most people have to wait till april 2012

though,in your opinion,coming from M3, did the 1M fee like a downgrade?

i'm also planning on boosting the turbos on the 1M and installing an
akrapovic on it.

what are your thoughts? from my understand, the 1M fees raw and a home to the E30 M3(greatest M3 of all time).

one more thing, in a year or i'll be ordering the F10 M5 once it's matured enough.

thanks for the feedback guys,

Marwan,
Have you thought about a C63 AMG?...

I do really love the M3 but I would probably go with the 1M. Pretty exclusive and it got great reviews. Why not just test drive it thursday and make your decision then?

I would not get the 1M. You need a different type of vehicle. You already have a performance luxury SUV, and a full blown sports car. What will the 1M give you that either of your other two vehicles doesn't? Since this is going to be a commuter/city car, and you have other nicer toys, I think you should just get some form of basic transport. Something that you don't care as much about if it gets a scrape or a ding, etc. A baisc 128 would do nicely. Even something like a Nissan Maxima. This way you can take your "beater" around the city for work/practical purposes, but you have the nicer vehicles too when you are in the mood. There are also those times when it is in your best interest just not to have something flashy.

Alternatively, you could also get a nice type of car that you don't yet have like a convertible.

Actually the interior dimensions are practically identical....
and those that are saying the interior is not as 'luxurious' as the M3 or it feels 'cheap' in comparison, I don't really agree. Sure the M3 has Nappa leather which is nicer instead of Dakota but after 3 M cars with Nappa I can honestly say I prefer the more durable Dakota in the 1M, and of corse the orange stitching and alcantara accents definitely help the little car feel luxurious enough, IMO. Other than that, both have available SAT/NAV, heated power seats, BlueTooth, etc. The exterior is definately anything but 'plain Jane', the fenders alone IRL are gorgeous!

Having said that, i'm not suggesting the 1M is better just different and for someone looking for a change it is a legitimate option. If i was buying a car today and choosing between an M3 and a 1M i would pick the M3. But having owned an M3 for 3 years and looking for something new i can totally understand why someone would make the switch to the 1M.

It sounds like you want a 1M. I'd like to have one myself to go with my M3 just for some variety. I surely wouldn't replace my M3 with a 1M though.

Dude is from UAE, its all about being flashy over there especially Dubai and overall just someone not familiar with how to or where to post.

Why not just keep the M3, stick a VT625/650 in there and buy a 1M also? Seems like you just wanted to tell us you own a 458 and an X5M. Then again, if you already own 3 fine cars that you have mentioned I'm assuming you're not worried about the mileage you put on them, so why not just beat on the 458 every day or get an Aventador?

OP, consider your stable of car, why not get something more wild like a 2012 gtr for a dd. good ride comfort (improved from previous years), powerful, and practical.

or maybe a c63 amg sedan.

i think m3 to 1m is a down grade and i heard the suspension on the 1m is firm for DD.

guys, i just shelled out the cash for an italia and an X5M. i can only afford to by another car by replacing the M3. My M3 has some funny issues with the gearbox/differential, which is why it's in the service center.

i'll drive the 1M today or tomorrow and decided for myself.

Buy it. You only live once. You have some other nice cars and if you really want to have a daily driver, use the X5M for that, mod the hell out of the 1M and have a blast. Now how about some pix of your Ferrari...

Since you look like you could afford it, I say keep the m3 and just pick up the 1M as well. I think you will miss the M3. Its too sexy too appealing!
