Does anybody have any video with one of these hooked up to an AIM Solo DL from an E92 DCT? I am talking about the integration model that collects its data from the Solo DL. I want to see what all is overlaid from my canbus connected DL? I want rpm, mph, brake, throttle, oil temp, water temp, oil pressure, G circle, steering, lap time, time/date stamp, etc automatically overlaid so I can just pop out card and watch instantly on laptop after session.

It is either this route or sell Aim Solo DL and get VBOX.

Dont have video of an E9X. But you can display anything the DL receives on the Smartycams. So either camera can do what you are wanting.

^ I don't want just numeric readouts for rpm and speed. I want a gauge with needle. Where is a list of all the options of what you can overlay? By that, I mean style of the picture for the overlay. I also don't need all my gears taking up space. I just want a single digit. Too many of these data loggers and software packages appear to do what you want, have awful documentation and zero support and end up not doing what you want. I want full disclosure and expectations up front laid out for me in very simple terms. I don't want to spend hours sorting it out. I want to see every single gauge and style of data I can put on the video and how much hassle it is to set it up to do what I want.

VBOX will allow side by side viewing of two laps, fully synced with data over video, so you can go through it inch by inch if you want to compare where you are improving and where you are not. Aim will let you compare data only between laps, not side by side videos on one monitor with data overlaid.

VBOX also has nice multi camera functionality. One large shot forward, one aimed at driver and one out the rear is all no problem and all automatic.

I suggest you go to the Aim website and download smarty manager and see what options are available. It's a free download.

What's your goal?

If you're trying to analyze your session data on the spot, RaceStudio is what you need. I recently attended one of their free data analysis seminars and holy batman, this horrible-interface, confusingly-documented program now makes sense!

I usually look at the data (separate from video) at the end of the day and make adjustments for day 2. Lots to learn by looking at the channel info/graphs in conjunction with the generated map. Only time I go back to the video is when the data doesn't "flow" as expected, and that's usually the case when you hit traffic or a flag is thrown etc.

I'd give that a try before changing to a different platform altogether

that was tlp. he is here. he is the king daddy of that and did an incredible job building the best dashware overlay template I have seen for the E9x M3. super guy.

^ not even close. The work TLP did is incredible. He put a ton of time into what Dashware should have done. He ought to patent it. Looking forward to getting on track with him one day.

Not my video...its PoboyR6 or something on M3Forum. I think it was Raceware, Go Pro, and an AIM Solo DL.

But I thought M World had the gauges and cool stuff done on the smarty cam. Check this video out with the Aim Solo DL and Smarty Cam HD. As I've said...its ALMOST idiot proof. (again...not me)

That is you drifting in the red E46 M3 and there is no data on that overlay. Just pictures that do nothing
