M Pricing - European Delivery Discount!

Is anyone planning on getting the first service done in Europe? Will BMW cover it? I'm planning on going for two weeks, and logging between 1,200 and1,800 miles. I'd love to have the full range of the car available for my last few hundred miles.

The dealer will lose money. They will not get the year end CSI bonus money which is 5% of the base MSRP, which is right around $3k. If the dealer sold the car at $1k over invoice both ways, then they will make the same money up front, but they lose the year end money.

The only number that changes from the "regular" invoice is the Base Price of the car. Just multiply by 93%.

The invoice prices are almost exactly where the E46 was in its final year of production. For anyone on the fence, there's very little reason to hold off now.

(49,495 / 53,800 ) -1 = -8%

so a 1% more than typical ED -7%.

you are comparing ED MSRP and ED invoice, not the usual US MSRP to ED MSRP. Check those and the numbers should be closer to 7%

No but all you have to do is take the existing pricelist and substitute in the numbers gobuffs posted above.

So what would be the invoice for a coupe with DCT, 19", and tech package? Based on the numbers posted by gobuffs and options invoice pricing in US it looks like it should come to ~ 60K give or take (gas guzzler+destination included), does this estimate sound about right or am I missing something?

In any case, whatever the ED invoice pricing is, I wonder what might be a reasonable deal in this economy: ED invoice + how much profit? Has anyone ordered one already and could you share your experience?

Don't pay any more than $1,000 over ED invoice. (You can do better than that, too.)The car doesn't come out of the dealer's allocation, so any ED sales are pure profit. Also, don't pay any of the BS floorplan, training, or MACO fees, as these don't apply to Euro cars either. If a dealer plays games, or just doesn't know any better, go somewhere else.

EDIT: I just saw that you're in South Carolina. Make a million phone calls to see which dealer will sell you the car the cheapest, and arrange pickup at the Performance Center. In your case, it makes literally no difference which dealer you buy the car from.

Thanks, I was thinking about combining PCD and ED. I was just concerned that given the price reduction from the base US invoice, dealers might be charging more than the invoice+(500 to 1000) deals that people have reported on regular US deliveries.

You're really in a perfect position. You can buy from any dealer in the U.S., and really have no repercussions. I'd send out a bunch of emails offering $500 over invoice to any dealer willing to get you an ED car. Someone will bite. The paperwork isn't that difficult. If it takes the sales guy two hours to do everything, and I'm sure it won't, that's pretty good pay given that it is unlikely that he will be selling another car during that time. (He can do the paperwork after business hours if he wants.) Just don't be a pain in the ass bothering him for daily updates, or expecting anything unreasonable from him. Once you get confirmation of the order and delivery day, don't bother him until he calls for final payment. After that, I wouldn't even call to ask the status of your transportation after you leave Europe. Just check the web site. Everybody wins.

I am sure you can probably find a dealer that will do $500 over ED invoice. Like people have said you can buy from any dealer in US and take redelivery at the PC. I will make the arguement for the other side in that paying a bit more might make a bit less headaches when you deal with a dealer that has done EDs before. ED presents its own set of issues that somebody who hasn't done some before might have some problems negotiating. I have heard some horror stories. The best forum on the net for BMW ED is on bimmerfest.com

They aren't required to, but if you have competing dealers within a reasonable distance, they normally will do it. Nowadays, dealers make far more profit from servicing cars than from selling them. I have often heard dealers use the "we'll give you a loaner if you buy here" line to make a sale, but I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone being denied a car, unless they've run out. Get in good with the Service guy, and he'll take care of you. He gets paid based on service, not on where the car he's servicing was purchased from.

Ok so I looked up all the pricing and read through this thread. Wow looks like you really do save a lot with ED. I put together a whole pricing list of what options I would want and priced it out at invoice. Wondering if someone who is familiar with ED could look at this and tell me if it is accurate or off. I priced the car at ED invoice and all options at US invoice that was available on this site. One thing I didn't see anyone mention was TAX. I live in NJ, do I have to pay NJ sales tax, or is there no tax since i'm purchasing it straight from Munich?

Also has anyone dealt with trade-in's with ED, or is that just not an option since you aren't really buying off the lot? I would think it may be a way to get it directly at ED invoice since the dealer will make profit off the Trade In... no?
