The tape is obviously not the problem here.

Installing an imperfectly fitting front lip can sometimes be remedied by a more intense securing method. Sometimes you need to shave a little bit here and there with a dremel but doesn't look like you have this problem from the pics. But make sure you use some tapping screws in a nice spot to really get rid of that gap if you can't get it to stick. You also seem to have some uncured double sided tape. There is no adhesion and the tape has wrinkled which usually means either you didn't leave enough pressure for a long enough time or you didn't clean the surfaces properly. Or a combination of the two. I've seen some terrible fitments and this looks like it could be fixed. Take it to a good body shop and they can probably do it nicely. Worse-case scenario take the front bumper off and install the lip like that first. Use some strong masking tape to hold everything in place while it "glues". Best of luck to you, does suck to spend a lot of money and not get something great but JL is a reasonable alternative to an OEM GTS lip.

What makes you think that I didn't leave the 3M tape to adhere?

The problem is, even with a 200lbs person pushing the front lip against the bumper, the 3M tape that was applied on the lip would NOT TOUCH the bumper.

So how can I get the 3M tape to properly settle, if I can't get the lip even close to fitting?

I request a more realistic solution from you.

GUARANTEED FITMENT means you guys take the responsibility for improperly manufactured pieces. So please don't tell me "oh our products must have 100% fitment, so try harder"

try using rubbing alcohol to clean before using the 3M this will help the tap adhere better. you might want to take it to a body shop to shave some of the lip from the back to help with the fitment. try an extra screws?

i heard good things about JL before and that they support their product, try contact them maybe they will send you a replacement.

you should just return the piece and get a refund, its not worth anymore time and money that you already invested.

I would like to, if JL motoring is willing to take the responsibility for supplying a badly manufactured part.

They guaranteed fitment of the lip, but people are telling me to take it to the body shop. I just don't understand why I have to spend more time and money at this point. Not to mention that a friend of mine who works at a body shop (been doing works for a local Mercedes-Benz dealership for 6 years) confirmed that the lip is impossible to be fitted correctly.

As I stated in an email to JL motoring, customers' satisfaction should NEVER be compromised due to those "bad batch".

Hopefully this issue will be sorted out shortly. It's not the money that I'm worried about, it's the whole idea of customer service based on sincerity.

They should give you a refund. They probably should not have made such a bold claim of perfect fitment if it doesn't come out like so. If they have specific install instructions that you need to follow they should also make that a point. And before going further with the whole PIA of returning if you haven't installed it properly you should probably try one more time. The shape doesn't look immensely off, its that there is a open gap (looks like the case from the pics, could be wrong)

I'm guessing it need to be installed like so for a few hours with squeaky clean surfaces (the part the tape will glue onto).

JUST TO BE CLEAR guys because I just realized the picture I posted may confuse someone. I posted that picture to illustrate how front lips should be installed to get proper adhesion. That lip in the image I posted is a Mode Carbon item.

sorry bro. don't waste your money on this garbage. I have a JL-Motoring CSL trunk lid that I wasted $700 shipped to my house that doesn't even fit the car. JL-Motoring, I quote, "Perhaps that body shop of yours (5 star on yelp, 30 years in business, 300+ reviews) doesn't know how to install good parts"
